If I’m chilling watching videos or doing something not particularly high-octane in World of Warcraft or something, I’ll find myself fatigued and almost worn down gaming on my office chair. Yet, when I lay down and game in bed (I have a gaming laptop) I instantly stop feeling fatigued and feel much better. If I’m super focused on something like playing a ranked match in a FPS or something I don’t notice it.

What gives? Is this just in my head? Is it the chair? It’s a fairly expensive office chair with an adjustable headrest and arms, and I don’t consider it particularly uncomfortable. I honestly don’t know what this is about and it’s bothering me. I’ve felt this way for years throughout different chairs and desks and locations.

I’m the same way when I play OSRS, get tired quick sitting at my desk but if I’m playing a FPS I’m wide awake.

Maybe I’ll just have to accept the fact that I want to play while laying down while doing something relaxing like leveling and then play on my desk when I’m doing something more high-octane. I just want to know why this is this. I’d like to be able to feel comfortable on my desk that way.

Maybe it has something to do with Decision Fatigue. When gaming you’re making tons of micro decisions in a short period of time. The more “twitchy” the game the more fatigue.

Sitting in bed and watching Netflix requires very little decision making to do, hence why many do this to relax because it’s relaxing.

Same thing happens when you drive. Many micro decisions when driving. That why a 7 hour straight drive can seem so exhausting.

Huh… I don’t know then. Maybe your office chair, placement of your keyboard, or height of your monitor could have something to do with it.

I’m trying to picture someone playing an fps while laying down with a laptop. That seems like a ergonomic nightmare. :)

I have that sometimes. Not sure why where I'll get super tired in my chair but I lay in bed and feel super awake.
