I want to scratch an itch but don't want to just play the above again. I want something different that isn't Minecraft. I was looking at Subnautica but I guess base building is kind of a secondary thing that isn't all that important in the grander scheme of the game.

I thought about Conan but there is just so much dlc and it seems meh at best.

Edit: I also have No Man's Sky already.

Any thoughts?

No Man’s Sky. It has a creative and survival mode, just like minecraft and you can make some really cool shit. Check out the subreddit if you want to look at some pictures.

I'm playing Grounded right now and it's a lot of fun. You got shrunk and are in the backyard, fighting insects and building bases. This one I would say falls in line with Subnautica, it's more about exploration than base building, but there is decent base building options.

No Man's Sky is also really good. Beautiful space exploration and building. Devs are constantly putting out more free content.

Atlas is a decent pirate themed base building survival game. Personally I think this one is only fun if you play online with other people.

Conan Exiles is a good one as well. The DLCs from what I remember are purely cosmetic but if you download a few good mods the game is amazing. I really like the Age of Calamitous mod for this one.

I'll add some more in a reply that I just remembered.

SCUM is a zombie survival, quite a bit more "realistic" than 7 Days To Die.

Some friends of mine right now are playing one called Icarus. Idk much about it, I don't think building is the primary aspect of the game because everything resets every so often I believe, but you might want to look into that as well.

Edit: Also Rust. Not a favorite of mine but another option.

Astro Colony uses the same engine as 7 Days to Die, but it's quite a bit less grindy. You can build quite complex bases/resource chains. Your base is your ship, so you explore using the entire structure, or spin off a smaller ship/base.

Subnautica is fun, but more focused on exploration than base building. I quite like Satisfactory, but it's not really base-centric as much as resource/manufacturing centric.

Deadside is what you're looking for. A more fast paced dayz basically.

Kinda similar you'd be interested in Rimworld.

V rising is decent. Especially for it's price.

Just don't play online unless you like Rust type gameplay
