Sonic Adventure 2 is by far the best mecha game.
In all seriousness, the reveal trailer got me nostalgic for the hours I sunk into ACFA. Such a terrific franchise. It understood what's fun about mechs -- lots of parts, lots of stats, lots of tuning, lots of ways to make other mechs go boom.
I remember people saying ACV and ACVD weren't as good (I never played them), but I thought that mostly had to do with multiplayer hiccups and a lack of variety. For me, it's a formula that would be pretty hard for them to fuck up, unless they decide to hugely pivot the series in a different direction.

ACV and VD were radically dialed down from 4 and FA. AC's were smaller, much less agile or durable and now you can't mount actual back weapons anymore, only more primary weapons.
After 4 and FA revamped gameplay to focus on mobility and action, it was a massive step down. It was just slow in general. VD did improve things a bit and even did a story link to FA by showing it was a distant sequel but it still didn't quite get there.
