Digital, unless it's a special edition

I love my Persona 5 Royal metallic box <3

Metallic boxes are so cool! Install some shelves in your room and you have something nice to look at.

A bit of both.

Reasons:

Digital- it’s already on the console and can play it without inserting a disc, and I don’t have to worry about the disc getting damaged since it’s already on the console.

Disc- even though consoles are moving away from having disc slots, I find that having a physical copy of the game is much more…nostalgic, in a way, having a physical copy of a really old game (like Halo CE or the original God Of War) feels much more cooler than just having it on the console digitally.

Of course with discs, you have to worry about it getting scratched or damaged, and with digital copies, making sure that the console doesn’t break, making you lose your games entirely

Either way, I like both of them, digital and physical discs.

Good points! There's benefits of both honestly. I just value physical items a lot and being able to lend a game to a friend or borrow one is really nice too.

And I find it nice to keep a physical copy of a game for a memento to an amazing series (for example I have the discs for all the Gears of War)

Yes! To be honest, it's really not that hard to look after your discs. Back as a kid, my discs would always get scratched on the Playstation 2 (and it would make the game freeze 🤣) but nowadays I treat them like the most delicate thing on Earth 😂.

I remember seeing ways of how to remove scratches:

Freeze the disc, cover it with toothpaste, wash it off and dry

The amount of times I tried that. Still don't know if it actually worked.

aren't digital games attached to your account and not to the console?

1

TheWrathfulCrusader t1_j2by7mp wrote

Nope.

Had an old Xbox one, it broke, none of my games saved to my account

I'm pretty sure xbox games are tied to the account, you just have to log in the new console

Sony does it, I see no reason why microsoft wouldn't do the same, specially when they have more user friendly pollitics

I'm pretty sure you're right. It wouldn't even let you purchase a digital game without a Playstation Network account. Maybe the case was different for Xbox but I doubt it.

I always prefer physical. When I own a digital copy, I don’t feel like I really own the game. I feel like it could be taken away from me at any time.

With a physical copy, I could pass it down to my children, or sell my collection down the road. I also love to sit in front of my shelf and just browse. I love to take them off the shelf and organize them by category. It’s a lot more fun to have a physical copy.

It really is. I couldn't agree more I just wanted to see if others felt the same way. I also feel like in one way or another, physical games enhance or add the element of replayability. 90% of the time when I finish a digital game, I delete it to make space and move on. If I'm browsing my physical shelf and come across something of quality which I've played previously, I have the feeling to throw it in and play it again. It could just be me though, but that happens.

I prefer physical because I get nice boxart to look at.

Agreed! A tangible collection is nice especially in an entire series.

I'm not normally one for resolutions but I'm gonna make an active effort to buy more physical copies in the future. Need a proper shelf to put them on, right now they're mostly tucked in a drawer.

My game racks make good decor. My digital library not so much

Relatable. Not much eye candy on your list of Purchases games compared to the shelf.
