No it isn't lol. Plenty of people frequently shit on borderlands 1 and say exactly what you're saying.

I personally like it the best out of all 3 of them, it has my favorite gunplay and the skil trees don't have a wall of text for each node. It's simple and straightforward to play.

Borderlands 3 was great for the first month but I found myself getting bored with having to use a small handful of meta builds for each character, and most of which require exploiting broken item synergies that allow you to 1 shot God with a splash weapon. I also didn't like or feel much of a connection to any of the 4 characters you get to choose from.

All of these games are literally just shoot hordes of enemies to grind so you can grind better later. More complicated doesn't necessarily mean better, objectively speaking
