This one was a sequel. The original was a not great attempt to cash in on the GTA craze, and was on the original Xbox

Yeah, you're probably right. I was thinking it was 2003 or 04, but it came out like 6 months after GTA 3, so the timelines don't match up.

Not just a sequel but the fourth game in the series. I only barely remember the first one.

Please no, these games were great for its time. Any reboot will just fuck it all up as they usually do

I think your right that a reboot would be shit. But a remake would be cool. That’s never happening tho 🥲

Tbf, the whole fun about the game was being able to sick Shadow on people. Nothing like swapping a gun for "aim+shoot=dog mauling"

If I remember correctly, development of this game got into a lot of hot water over a copyright infringement suit with an author.

That was not a good game nor was it a good PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 game. It felt like they ment to put it on PS2 and Xbox.

If I recall right, Sleeping Dogs started as a Dead to Rights sequel. Give it a shot.

WolfGangKami OP t1_j6jascv wrote

Seriously? I thought sleeping dogs started out as true crime Hong Kong or something

Ground2ChairMissile t1_j6jbdr5 wrote

Hmm, I might be thinking of True Crime. All those open world GTA-style games run together in my head.
