i have clocked over 1k hours in both WoW and Swtor (but stopped before 7.0, ie the current expansion)
when it comes to mmorpgs, it's all about what you want/expect. are you looking for a full-fledged mmo experience, and if so can you commit the time for group content to upgrade your gear, optimize your build and learn the rotations? if yes, then swtor - in fact, any of the mainstream mmos - will serve you well. although I'd personally go with a more active title, such as Final Fantasy or WoW. Swtor has been on decline for many years now.
are you really just looking for a free 2 play star wars sandbox game that, according to internet, has “great stories”? the class stories really aren't anything special. but by all means go ahead because it is indeed free... kinda.

Guild Wars 2 has been fairly fun and plenty of people seem to be playing it, still.

i don't like it that much. its brand of class/skill progression (or lack of) isn't my thing. quite a looker tho.

Fair. I like it for the various build potentials and the combat is fun. Usually.
