If it’s the remake yeah I can see that. Though in my case it started to become less scary so much as me just wanting him to fuck off and leave me alone already

Man when I figured out that on a weirdly subconscious level, unless your “in the know” some people literally can’t say La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo and casually say La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo without even realising they aren’t saying La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo at all, it really put into perspective how much power the La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo had in the later stages of the MGS series.

I’ve never had one. The creepiest would go to many characters. Here are a few examples

Gigyas, The metal Shark from Banjo Kazzoie, The Carnage and Doc Ock hybrid from Spider-Man (2000), Scarecrow from Arkham Series, Tails Doll from Sonic

And if these count

Ben Drowned and Sonic. EXE

Creepy? Zero/Zero-Two from Kirby. Giant floating eyes of darkness that bleed when you hit them in a game series that's otherwise sparkles and rainbows.

Scary? Jeff from Half-Life Alyx. A mutated abomination that will chase down any noises it hears in its vicinity and will instantly kill you if it catches you. Seeing as how the game is in VR, getting close to Jeff is downright terrifying.

Played it cuz it was free and it's one of like 2 games I've gotten near 100%, it's a complete blast on Infamous, and I've never bothered to get the walk away ending because the final driving mission is one of, if not my favorite mission in any game

It definitely helped that I was utterly infatuated with the story since I did the bosses in the best possible order for story imo on my first run (faith, jacob, john from start to end)

watching an Earthbound let's play when I was a kid is probably what made me get so invested in JRPGs. It's just crazy knowing that no matter which one you pick up, no matter how cutesy or unassuming the cover and story may be, chances are, there's something horrific at the end.

>!Majora (from Majora's mask) is really fucking spooky. The more you think about what exactly it is the scarier it gets. !<

>!Like, every other main antagonist in the franchise has a pretty clean cut origin and motive. Ganon's an evil god reborn into the flesh of man, Zant is an extra demensional being from the twilight zone and Ghirahim is the servent and sword spirit to the evil god. Just to name a few.!<

>!But Majora? It's just a freaky, horribly possesed and terrifyingly powerful mask. It's only clear goal is "destroy literally everything" and despite it's horrific motives, the only personality traits it ever really shows is ones of a child. Doing funny dances, taunting people and once you finally get to the final area, the personification of Majora is just a lonely child sitting under a tree who seemingly views itself as the hero of the world and link as the villain.!<

>!Majora is just as much of an anigma as everything else in that game and I think it was the perfect antagonist for it.!<

The Darkness from Fable 3. Given that it's not a horror game and quite a lot of stuff in the series is played for laughs, it takes a very serious turn.

Sir Walter was a soldier who fought in past battles, advised the past and present Kings, led the Old Guard, trained the Prince/Princess to fight and risked execution to help them raise up a resistance against the tyrannical monarch. He did all of that while making jokes and seeing the lighter side of every situation. Upon meeting the Darkness in Aurora, this brave man is left a gibbering mess, temporarily blinded and terrified by what he witnessed in that cave.

It might not be a great game overall, but that part of the story hits very hard in my opinion.

I've never played Earthbound, but this thing is nightmare fuel.

The soundtrack alone is beyond unsettling. Idk what it is about older games with more midi/lowfi music, but it's so much creepier than anything modern. I guess it just sounds more alien and distorted compared to recognizable instruments.

Plus the very concept of the guy, no physical form, and during the final phase he's the entire background with no foreground sprite like all other enemies, and it forms the outline of fetuses to symbolize how he's regressed mentally in his insanity.
