Just curious

Made me ask when I saw that lord of the rings did it in another post, and I think tomb raider had some films too. No need to bother with saying star wars or any lego games

But have there ever been a game sequel to a film’s story or vice versa? Or another game that is based solely off the film’s story so you can now be in the action?

But yeah I was just surprised to hear lord of the rings had one that involved actual movie scenes, so ppl got to see scenes before it came out apparently (not based on info i know, so if im wrong just correct me)

Enter the Matrix was probably the most high profile

chronicles of riddick games come to mind albeit those take place before the movies i think, also a few aliens titles like colonial marines being a sequel to the second film.

Alien: Isolation ties into the movie’s lore

King Kong lets you play the story

The Sum of All Fears: based off the movie, but I’m not sure how much it follows the plot

There’s surely more but these are three I’ve played over the years (and enjoyed!)

I believe I read somewhere back in the day that Ghostbusters for the PS3 was to be thought of as "Ghostbusters 3"

For game sequel to a film’s story, one I can think of is Scarface: The World is Yours.

You’re basically playing as Tony Montana if he survived the shootout that killed him at the end of the movie.

lol two words indeed

but the game looks enjoyable, it even got good reviews but at this point i never know whether to trust them or not. surprised they haven’t made a new one already but just searched it up, its supposedly in the making as of this year. could be just rumors tho

prequels count too, sorry i didn’t specify, and another older game with good reviews too

AND OH YEAH i totally forgot about the alien games. gosh i loved alien isolation, best sci fi horror i’ve experienced in general. i’m interested in trying dead space remake (never got to playing the old one in spite of having it)

i really appreciate you telling where each game ties in (☻-☻) and i can’t believe i forgot about alien isolation

you’re the second king kong i’ve seen so it must’ve been good too. i think all of these games were memorable in some way shape or form for you guys to remember them

hmm i searched it up and this seems oddly familiar, maybe i saw it in a trailer but shrugged it off. seems like a cool game to play

I found this online as well, “As of 2021, with the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is no longer part of the original movie canon.” so yeah it must’ve been ghostbusters 3 at the time

they also got a lego game i never knew about but what doesn’t lego have (it’s the reason why i didn’t want u guys to waste your time saying them)

Easily the best gaming experience I had on ps2, especially for a game adaptation of a movie. The atmosphere felt like you were indeed trapped on an island in constant terror, they took some liberties but nothing that tainted the experience and the level design etc was amazing for ps2 graphics

i found this in the film’s wikipedia (so it might be inaccurate), “The makers of the game eschewed the plot of the original film and chose to put the focus on elements of the first sequel, such as the druids and runestones.”

they made it somewhat their own which usually turns out for the better. i’ve never even heard of the movies in the first place but i see mostly good reviews abt it
