Guy descending is an asshole. Slow down, you're endangering other hikers.

The one good thing I can say about this is all the people being smart enough to allow/force this ass to pass on the downhill side.

One thing I was tought as a child... when your come up on a horse going the other way, always move to the uphill side of the trail. Always.

I was told move to the downhill side of horses because they find that less threatening. They said horses see you uphill they think cougar ambush.

But I don't really know. Just interesting we go to different sides of the hill.

That's a lot of traffic for a supposedly secret path into Mordor.

The line is 'one' does not simply walk into Mordor. You have to join one of the tour groups.

This guy is going down, they are climbing. Also the climb looks too steep for casual hikers.

Ppl moving fast down the trail against traffic is the most annoying part about popular hikes.

namsur1234 t1_j77shxj wrote

Jesus! Not this kind of 'hiking'. Plus this seems very unsafe passing given the steepness.

Saw a video the other day of a guy doing this and slipping on one of the steps for the last time.

Actually witnessed this on my trip to Zion National Park. One idiot was rapidly descending almost tripped few times as he passed me about 200ft further down he trips again. This time he goes over only to be lucky enough to catch the safety chain. What an ass hole.

I'm glad most reactions are about how unsafe and inconsiderate it is to walk against climbing traffic like this.

Give climbers space so they can keep their pace.
