These pixels, arranged in this order, make me sad. Well done

Haha, thank you! I think the highest praise an artist can get is hearing their art made someone feel something!

At first I thought that was supposed to be a Diglett, and he is watching the sunset with his Diglett friend.

That sure cheered me up after this gif almost made me cry, something about pixel art makes it seem more emotional than a realistic picture

Lots of people commenting on how it's sad, but my first thought was "it's the anniversary of me killing my mortal enemy. Time to piss on his grave again. Hah!"

Probably... Not what you were going for, but great gif, OP!

Looks beautiful.

Only thing I will say is may be reduce the animation on the water/sun. It isn't very uniform and some places are static while others move a bit too much.

KillerRabbitMedia OP t1_jbanetd wrote

Thank you for the feedback! This was my first time animating water, so really appreciate the tip! I’ll keep it in mind next time

I am just saying it as an observer. It is really beautiful regardless.

Brilliant and for me, perfectly timed - it's 12 years ago today we lost my Dad. This hit me right in the feels, like great art should. Well done!

I love the little addition of the seagulls and the slight flap of the trees. You did the sun wonderfully, especially the transition to the night sky. Really good piece. You're quite talented.

I’m reminded of Johnny at River’s grave by the lighthouse and the shore in To The Moon, and now I’m melancholy. Truly great game, truly great art.

2

KillerRabbitMedia OP t1_jbd8fim wrote

Thanks for the comment, I haven’t actually played it yet. Is it good?

2

astraldirectrix t1_jbfah3w wrote

It’s an excellent game. If you’re into charming pixel-art point-and-click games with mystery and melancholy, it’s absolutely worth it. The main scientist characters are quirky, lovable dorks, and are a solid source of levity for how tragic Johnny and River’s story gets. The game also delves a bit into some of the challenges autistic people face when interacting with a neurotypical society. Oh, and that heartrending soundtrack… It’s hard for me to cry over music, but this is one of those rare works that did it for me.

You really should play it sometime 🙂
