3D audio is almost exclusively bad sounding every single time, the Sony one isn't going to be any different, a proper headphone without any of these software toys are always gonna sound better than a "gaming" headphone with 3d audio, that software tries to target the average ear shape, and since noones ear is average it's not gonna sound good

Well to not just say "3d audio stucks" blah blah, you can use any headphone/headset. If you want wide 3d-ish audio try using open backs. I think its better than 3d audio because not every game is made with 3d audio in mind, even ps5 games.

Get Sony MDR-Z1R, made by the same company that made the playstation. I am sure it is PS5 compatible. wink wink

Perhaps your ears just don't like any of the algorithms you've heard. I've found several that do a great job to my ears for games.

Don't know, I found that the default stereo option gives me much greater accuracy than any 3d sound I used

Depends on how much you’re willing to spend. Any headphones will work with 3D audio through the controller but you’re stuck with Bluetooth and the controllers built in amp which is just okay. If you’re looking to spend, you need to buy a PS5 compatible DAC like the Atom DAC+ and then whichever amp you want. Any decent open back headphone will work with this setup. This is my personal setup and it works great in games where 3D audio is well implemented.
