I feel like their sound is very sharp and it hurts my ears. Punchy best I could describe it as.

It’s my first pair of quality headphones and tbh I prefer my AirPods 2 for long listening sessions.

Maybe that’s typical for over ear headphones

But yeah the sound is more detailed, it’s a lot to process lol. Like I’m discovering music again.

Maybe it’s an acquired taste and I’ll get used to it but I wanna hear others opinions.

Well I wouldn't call them relaxed sounding. Quite a lot of treble and bass, but pretty fun sound. I think they're more intended for monitoring and maybe mixing, perhaps not quite for long and relaxing listening sessions.

Might help to EQ a bit. Look around for guides on Peace APO. Oratory1990's presets are a popular place to start.

Absolutely, definitely do not mix on those things. Mixing/mastering on headphones is generally a bad idea, but anything as incredibly biased tonally as the M50X is just asking for your mixes to sound like dogwater.

Yeah I tried eqing the treble a bit but man these headphones are intense I think imma return them.

It’s a fun sound definitely but for short periods of time. I can’t see myself in them for more than an hour or two.

I wouldn't say it's tiring. I do find it a bit bassy, punchy, which I like. Headphones/iems that make me "tired" is those that has piercing trebles, which I don't find in the M50x. But I'm not that comfortable using my M50x anymore lately, especially for home use because I'm too used to open backs, the closed back and tuning of the M50x make me a bit claustrophobic, somehow. As for details in the sound, it does have a good instrument separation. Sometimes it can be exhausting listening to many things at once I agree, but I'm already used to it I guess.

M50X is pretty not great in terms of sound, yeah. Sharp treble, recessed mids, muddy bass. Not a good sound.

But even aside from that, those things when I had them used to blister my fucking ears, lol. They have so little cushioning.

I think I’ll return them. My ears hurt, and I’m at like 1/3 volume. iPhone shows 68dB and the high frequencies are too much for me xd

For the same price, try the HE400SE. Headphones.com is reputable and will honor returns for a full year. They're a really damn good headphone and sound great. EQ makes them sing.

I bough M50x few years ago just to find out that absolutely nothing sounds like I want it to sound on them. I tried to get used to them for couple of days, but eventually returned the within a week. I couldn't find a single album that I liked while listening through them. That bass signature, clamp force, it was just not for me.

The M50 is the most overrated headphone, easily. All the people who praise it are tech bros who just bought their first nice headphone on the recommendation from random tech YouTubers. Meanwhile, I've never heard any actual audiophile say anything nice about it.
