If external noise bothers you, then don't do it. I personally think you should stick to isolating headphones because you aren't going to be able to full immerse yourself in the audio with Imagine Dragons blasting in the background, just saying...

You have no idea. Haha. I got nothing against Lewis Capaldi, but 5 times a day is enough to make anyone wish he'd never picked up a microphone.

Eh, I personally wouldn’t use open back headphones at work. They provide practically no isolation, so if it’s a noisy environment your music will be fighting to drown out the noise, if it’s a quiet environment it’ll bug coworkers who will hear whatever you’re listening to. Closed backs or in-ears are better suited, unless you need to hear your surroundings.

They’re worthless in this situation

Ehh you're gonna wanna go for closed backs, or even IEMs

Corgerus t1_ja9kqed wrote

Yeah IEMs are ideal for a situation like this assuming OP won't need to take them off every 2 minutes to talk with coworkers. My Tin T3+ blocks out a ton of noise when I get the seal perfectly.

You're in a loud environment, you're just going to be adding more noise pollution. On top of the fact that you'll still hear everything as well, so much so that the headphones will be rendered useless. It's important to realise that because sound can leave them, it can also enter them.

Closed headphones or iems for loud office.

They're useless in that scenario then

Complain about the noise to your workplace acquisitions officer, and get them to requisition or order some XM4 or QC45s.

Haha thatd be nice, but I might have a warehouse uprising on my hands if they don't get their fix of 5 doses of Ed Sheeran per day.

Could try harmonicdyne athenas, semi open not expensive punches above its weight.

Personally in a loud house, with kids screaming and stuff the 660s still work well and don't hear people outside while music is playing but as soon as I change tracks or pause it's super obvious they're open back and hear the outside noises clearly lol

get a pair of good IEMs or one nice closed back headphone. Though, good IEMs with proper sound and a good seal will cost much less than a closed back headphone that does a similiar job.

You won't be able to enjoy anything open back. You will hear things from the outside and making your headphones louder will basically make everyone else hear everything. A lose - lose situation.

Get the hd600 and tell the warehouse employees that the radio is a health and safety violation.

Open backs are great when you’re alone.

But if your reason is because you want to hear people in the office, maybe try AirPods Max or pro. Their transparency mode basically feels like an open back headphone, but you also have the added benefit of toggling them to block out external sound altogether.

Portable audio related purchase advice may also be asked in r/HeadphoneAdvice but please familiarize yourself with their rules first.

What questions are considered purchase advice?

  • A request for product suggestions, comparison requests, or opinion requests fall under the purchase advice rule. These can often be found by searching first.

  • Any suggestion or comparison request pertaining to headphones, IEMs, DACs, amps, or other accessories should be directed to the purchase help thread or r/headphoneadvice.

Open back headphones do not leak that much unless you're listening really loudly, you can confirm this with dongles/devices that have those estimations (still not that accurate) for decibels or volume hearing levels, see here for more info: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/11a5ysg/qudelix_5k_and_moondrop_kato/j9r0kp2/

Open back headphones barely have noise reduction/isolation. Whenever people use them outside, they'll get tempted to raise the volume to drown out the external noises and this is not good for your hearing health. Try closed back headphones (with ANC or not) or wired IEMs instead or better yet, TWS earbuds (with ANC or not) when going outside, those will have better passive noise reduction.

Try Bluetooth ANC headphones or TWS earbuds instead, or wired IEMs.

For noise reduction/isolation, try Etymotics, they'll beat top of the line ANC from Sony/Apple/Bose/etc. Make sure to try Comply P (or Comply T(x)100) foam ear tips before giving up as the deep fit can be a dealbreaker.

Some more info on Etymotics, Adorama links to get them for $50-70, ear tips (has some info on custom ear tips, custom IEMs) for them, TWS adapters and neckband adapters for them, et cetera: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/10lyo41/earphones_that_wont_fall_out_of_my_ears/j60alja/

And yup, you can use those 3M noise reduction earmuffs too or so for factory workers and so on, they should be available on Amazon. You can probably use them with a lot of wired IEMs and TWS earbuds.

The downvoting is ludicrous! I have both Sony WF1000-XM4, AirPods Pro and Etymotics and with voices the Ety’s are hands down the best option. If you are in an office, the ANC from Apple and Sony cancels all background noises, making voices clearly audible. With the ETY’s everything is muffled
