This is the Graphic EQ the DTS:X Ultra comes with, can someone guide me?

Graphic EQ on DTS:X Ultra

And should I have any of these on? (I game a bit, I mainly care about the sound in CS:GO so I can find enemies by ear, so I prefer stereo, I haven't found any issues with entertainment, but I'd rather not mess with it).

My custom audio settings

And the options I have on windows sound

Disabling all audio enhancements reportedly disables spatial audio, not sure which spatial audio though (DTS or windows)

Should I disable this? After testing, it feels like it gets applied on top of the entertainment one but sounds fine on stereo, maybe I'm just taking the longer route to DTS's entertainment mode, so should I just stick with that?

Thanks in advance.

The issue is it's not a very well known brand, so is there any way I can know my headphones frequency response on my own?

Well you never mentioned which headphones

The issue is it's not a very well known brand, I had the option for a cheap sennheiser, but decided that this was better since it sounded okay and was a bit cheaper (for my uses, i.e. I don't mind extra bass too much, I'm not a purist). I kinda wish I took the sennheiser now.

Understandable but does the headpgpne not have a brane name or it's generic... It may be "unknown" but maybe frequency response data on it u/Leap-Fapstronaut

Didn't expect you to reply so quickly, here's a link, if it helps: https://www.porodo.net/headphone-earbuds-handsfree/wireless-headphone/

Yeah they're niche niche... Then you'd have to EQ by ear

Yeah what I'd guessed, I'll try my best. There's this "Personalized EQ" feature on DTS and after answering the test and trying it out I don't see much of a difference besides everything being a bit louder? I'm not sure.

Try with a song you know how the spectrum of dynamic range across all the frequency response spectrum and use that to dial in bass and treble with the Graphic EQ... As said you can install Equaliser APO and it's accompanying Peace GUI and get even more fine tuning access to your audio source u/Leap-Fapstronaut

I think you can try AutoEQ inside Peace Equalizer, and just use whatever setting in DTS:X Ultra you like. I use virtual surround a lot and this way works fine for me.

You can leave that "Enable audio enhancements" on, this is needed for the audio enhancements to work properly as it seems.

And about Windows Sonic for Headphones, this is the spatial audio tech from Microsoft, but it only applies for multichannel audio and leave stereo untouched, that's why you don't notice processing with stereo content. If you're already using DTS Ultra, just disable Windows Sonic. Reason is we can't use 2 virtual surround/HRTF at the same time, this would destroy your audio quality and directional audio, it's just one or the other but doing the job alone.

Thank you! I haven't tried out AutoEQ yet, I'll try it tomorrow, what does it do exactly? I have disabled windows sonic now.

If your headphones has a profile there, AutoEQ can make them neutral and even offer your several profiles to choose from, sometimes one that is neutral, other that has more focus on bass.
Even if your headphones aren't there, you can use to "simulate" the sound signature of other headphones.

Of course, it can't be exactly the same, but it will give an overall idea.

I did this with my old KZ EDX while waiting Salnotes Zero to be delivered, it made the EDX sound way less harsh in the treble and the bass was less boomy; When i finally got the Zero i was surprised by how similar EDX was souding. Of course the Zero and the real thing is much much better, but yeah AutoEQ is awesome!
