Hi! New to this community and just received my HD660S in the mail.

I was swapping the cable for a shorter one and although I knew there was a left/right, I didn’t realize there was a specific orientation of the ends into the headphones. Come to find out that the “L” and “R” have to be facing out and the 2 pin connectors are not the same with one slightly larger.

My question is, did installing them backwards initially cause any damage? I feel like an idiot and should have questioned when I felt initial resistance but it wasn’t much and seemed the same as pulling out the original.

Thanks in advance!

I put my cables in the opposite sides and it didn't cause any issues, I think you'll be fine mate 👍

Personally I advise to always RTFM first with expensive gear.

And yes I am still fun at parties

You're fine. I did the same thing at first and nothing bad happened. Just switch them around and you're golden.

The polarity of the sound waveform would be inverted (some people can hear it under some circumstances but its a subtle difference) or mismatched between channels (this is easy to hear), but otherwise, completely harmless.

Thanks for the responses all! Sounds like no harm done but will be more careful in the future

How did you do that? Pins are a bit different and you can't insert them wrong way.

While one pin is larger than the other, the difference is minuscule so it really doesn’t take much “force” at all. Took a lot more to remove the original cable tbh

Guess I would’ve benefitted from further idiot proofing like different shaped bases at the pins or color coding lol. I’m sure I’m in the very small minority tho
