I got these free because of a screw up they made with something.

I was like, OK - sweet - a nice pair of backups for my Steelseries Nova Pro (wired) in case they break (like they have before) & I game daily.

I was - as we all are - excited to get toys despite thinking they were not going to be anything special. I thought they'd be a totally fine backup pair.

I was so wrong.

I cannot believe how utterly terrible these things sound. I put them through their paces, but nothing was sounding remotely 'good'.

I am absolutely shocked that these have had good reviews. They are utterly abysmal in every way, bar aesthetics & comfort - but that's obviously irrelevant given how they sound.

I had their H3 Wireless Hybrids also, and those sounded much better - when they actually worked. I went through two pairs and both had different (very significant) issues (the mic is absolutely shocking. It's not flexible & really far from your mouth - I had to physically push it towards my mouth so friends on Discord/whatever could hear me. This really takes push to talk to a new level 😅. They ended up both going totally & utterly kaput - just straight up broken. Isolating the sound quality issue, I find the jump down in sound quality really odd.

I will give the external soundcard another go, but the headphones themselves are just abysmal.

Also, the dual wire used for mic & headphones didn't work at all. The headphone only wire worked.

I'm wondering if I missed something??? But I really don't think so. I downloaded their shitty app, tried with & without - no difference.

This brand really are utterly abysmal.

Openback or closeback version? Did you turn off all virtual surround sound software?

Aren't they just a cladded up PC38x. No way they should sound anything other than clear, decently detailed, though not Bassy device.

Either a dud or what is more likely is that your hearing adjusted to the audio in your nova set. The best tip is to use the H6 for a week without using the nova, then try the nova.

I think the big problem is that if I am right neither are a good backup for the other because their quality and FR differences.

They have to be duds.

I have a bunch of headphones for various uses and can happily switch through them. They all sound pretty different (eg my Audeze Penrose I just sold sound nothing like the Novas) and I like the change. I work on many different soundsystems at lots of music venues and have for over 25y- so I'm pretty confident I know the difference between different & shite.
