For context, I've got Etymotic IEMs and Airpod Pros as my daily drivers, along with Sony Wh1000mk4's for travel.

I decided to pull the trigger on these goofily marketed bass cannons to see what the fuss was about. This is the closest I've ever felt to a car's subwoofer, and are hilariously fun.

I love mine. I bought one last year, got my giggles out of it and sold it. Then the other month I had to buy another one to scratch the itch because I just missed the darn thing. It's a silly, stupid, absurd headphone in the best ways and it's an extremely fun thing to listen to a couple times a month. Audiophiles look elsewhere, and if you're the kind of person that wants to own one headphone and one headphone only, this is not it. But if you've already got a collection of a couple good headphones or more and want something to add to your collection that's just a bonkers laugh, it's wonderful.

Couldn't have said it better myself. If I want to be transported back to an EDM concert I can't think of a single better thing

They are very fun but like most portable bluetooth phones the earcups are so small and uncomfortable.

So here’s the thing. It sounds good with the bass slider at 50%, but anything more than that and it gets muddy real fast.

How bad it is compared to the sony's ?

Plasticy construction and not a daily driver. But purpose built bass cannons that are the closest I've ever felt to a real subwoofer

Have you compared the wired xm4 to the skullcandy or just wireless?

acamu5x OP t1_iqtafdg wrote

I have! The xm4’s have better build quality, audio, noise cancelling, and comfortability. The crushers have bone shaking bass, and are almost decent enough for day to day use when the bass slider is toggled all the way down.

Does bass like this hurt your long term hearing health more?

I can only speak anecdotally, but I'd say no,

The music isn't exponentially louder to get this bass. It's literally a vibration motor in the headphones that does a damn good job at feeling real.

So while you get the vibration and "bass" feeling of sitting next to a subwoofer or in a loud car, the sound won't blow out your eardrums.

With that said, you are more likely to listen louder if you're digging the music with these things so there is that!
