Apologies for the noob question. I've been eyeing an A90D to connect to my Mojo 2 to power an LCD-X. So far, the Mojo 2 is able to power the LCD-X to uncomfortably loud volume levels. But I still want to improve its sound and I came across recommendations to add an amp.

I'm confused though. If the Mojo 2 does not have a proper line-out and it connects to an amp through the headphone-out, isn't it basically double amping? Would I gain anything by adding an amp like the Topping A90D?

The Mojo 2 would be fine to use with the A90 Discrete, provided that its output voltage doesn't exceed 2.9 Vrms (high gain input sensitivity).

No, just a lighter wallet. If you wish to alter/improve the sound of your headphones, try experimenting with EQ.

You would gain nothing but higher volumes. A different or additional amp won’t improve sound quality.
