ultra_prescriptivist t1_iufv17g wrote

This is pretty accurate.

The only exception I ever found were the PX-100, which have since been discontinued, sadly. Those things were kickass for the price.

OnePunchedMan t1_iug563c wrote

Yeah the px100-ii were my favorite workout headphones. Really sucks they're discontinued. I thought about trying Koss but I'm not sure they'd be comparable.

suppaboy228 t1_iuh3o6a wrote

They are made much better. Sturdy af.

But koss have cool sound that I was into in my early teens.

vivek1982 t1_iug9ikt wrote

Yes, I have tried Px-80, 100 and 100-ll and they were all great. It's such a shame that they are not available anymore.

Prime_1427 t1_iugaaiz wrote

I still have one pair of them and they are amazingly unique.

Hah.

Try sub-$100 Shure IEMs and then we will compare thoughts on mud

7

FastGecko5 t1_iuk605c wrote

Compared to the SE215, this mud is slightly more red in colour due to the higher iron content. What impact this has on the sound is tough to say. Either way, both headphones provide a high quality mud experience.

my HD 4.40s are great, unfortunately the cups are starting to peel, though it's been 5 years so that's somewhat expected.

Sennheiser makes some of the headphones of all time

exoticsclerosis t1_iugxn23 wrote

HD202 and HD202-II were good to me tho, owned both in the past.

Suprisingly I enjoyed them more than HD400 series.

Liked the sound of the px100-ii and how compact they were but I couldn't really wear them for too long bc on-ear design.

4

ameertav t1_iui1qsg wrote

HD4XX series are Senny's worst headphones imo. HD202s sound way better than them for a fraction of the price. Sennheiser gets weird sometimes.

Maybe I’m just unlucky but the hd250,hd206,hd461,hd201,pxc 250 is just terrible for me(got 3 of them in a bundle except for the hd250 and hd461)

5

IdleHands_kc t1_iuhe7ge wrote

I had a 201 once. After 3 days my cat bit thru the cable. I said good boy, now I don't feel bad throwing them away.

medalwinner16 t1_iuha5jf wrote

I have a set of 206s and a set of HF350bts. Best headphones i've ever used, full stop. Maybe it's the bass for you but i kinda love sennheiser's implementation. I listen to a lot of coldplay and Bengali classics, so it suits me quite a bit.

PutPineappleOnPizza t1_iuh62pv wrote

I still remember my purchase of some wired Sennheiser momentum IEMs for like 80€ and my God, very expensive for absolutely no reason. Some 20ish € IEMs of today do the same things.

HD6XX however.. Chefs kiss, my God, I love them!

MayaFeline t1_iuji7h8 wrote

I bought HD206's like a year ago and it was an underwhelming experience overall. I thank my cat for biting the cable and making me go with a pair of Shure SRH440 (and a cheap DAC afterwards)

cum-oishi OP t1_iujuzs5 wrote

I also thank my cat for biting my focal elegia's stock pad and make me get a new pad end up getting leather pad instead absolutely wonderful

2

thedarkdocmm t1_iuhen32 wrote

tbh the HD250BT are actually pretty good for the price (got mine for $35), they're basically an HD25 (soundwise) but with bluetooth and a cheaper plastic build.

2

TheUniverseBoy t1_iuhozl5 wrote

Nah my friend the bt250 aren't as near as good soundwise compared to the hd25 (i have both). But nevertheless the are a solid performer for the little pricetag.

petersvau t1_iuhr76g wrote

2

kevinkip t1_iuha7ge wrote

This is true for JBL products as well. Absolute garbage under $150 and then it suddenly becomes the gold standard for speakers.

Kirei13 t1_iujpvbu wrote

The Sennheiser CX300 ll were decent enough for the price. They were pretty comfortable, the tuning wasn't terrible and when I gave them as a gift, the person loved them. They lasted a while so that's pretty good.

Joe_Scotto t1_iuk9upv wrote

Idk

I borderline prefer my IE100 over my IE300. Although the proprietary cable pisses me off.
