Hi, I am planning to visit Paris audio visual show next week. This is my first time going for something of the sort and thought I will ask people who has been to similar conferences/exhibitions before.

Is it advisable to take your headphones/iems with you, incase you get to try amps/dacs? How long do you get to try some things?

My ticket covers two days, no idea if one day is enough. Also, how is the security there, I plan to go casually with my skateboard since I can commute faster. Will they bar carrying it.

Sorry for this stupid post, but all replies are welcome. Thank you!

If it's anything like CanJam, they'll let you get pretty hands-on with stuff. Bring any smaller stuff you feel comfortable bringing in a backpack. Remember that they are probably going to have more standardized options, so make sure you have at least a 3.5mm cable for earphones and 1/4" cable for headphones. Bring your own eartips for trying different earphones. Again, I don't know how different the Paris show would be compared to CanJam SoCal.

I did the exact thing you want to do with my Final A4000 in Paris, the shop staff was very nice and let me try anything and everything. I made a post about it in r/headphones and it was a very informative experience. The skateboard really shouldn't be an issue, if you have a backpack you can clip it to vertically you'll have a much easier time.

I recommend you go by feel and try the brands you like first, it establishes a "baseline"/horizon of expectations that can be validated or shattered by other experiences afterwards

I went through your post, that's so nice! May I ask which store it was, please? I want to do something like this but a bit scared as I won't be making any purchase anytime soon.

I will remember your tip about not trying the top ones at the start!
