Is bad latency gonna be an issue for me?

I got the Bluetooth Tribit XFree Go, and both on PC and mobile there's like half a second of lag. At first I thought it might be the dongle, but its BT 5.3 and the headphones are 5.2 so I don't think that's it. Plus, mobile has the same issue.

Does it get better with time? are there better latency headphones in the same price range? this is really frustrating, bc the sound quality is amazing and I like the feel of the headphones, but the latency really makes it hard to just enjoy a show without being plugged in.

Mind you, I'm as much a headphone noob as I can be, plus I'm spanish. Talk to me like I'm 5.

Seems like turning off battery save mode on mobile mitigates it a bit. Dunno w pc tho

That headset supports only SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs. If you need low-latency you'll need something with support for aptx lossless

Bluetooth latency is both hardware and software depended.

Codecs like SBC, APTX, etc. might have a latency of approx. 200 ms.

APTX-LL is the best (30 ms) but is replaced by APTX-Adaptive.

Old mobiles can even hit 500 ms, modern can do 20-40 ms regardless the codec.

A PC with a dongle

A mobile with Bluetooth.

Things you can try

Another PC preferably one with build-in Bluetooth. If latency drops, it might be the dongle.

Another mobile, preferably a modern one. If we have to believe https://www.soundguys.com/android-bluetooth-latency-22732/ you should get < 30 ms.

So fool around a bit until you find the culprit.

I honestly don't have the money to go around changing monitors/ my phone bc of latency lol. Might just deal with it if theres nothing i can improve for less than 50$

I use LDAC a lot and don't see latency with video. Some manufacturers make a big deal of their product supporting whatever the latest bluetooth standard is like 5.2 or 5.3 but, if they don't mention the codec it may only be SBC. AAC is usually decent but not all products will perform the same when using the same codec or BT standard.
