To my ears 👂. And also tried low volume on high gain vs. much higher volume on low gain.

Properly volume matching is a thing to be aware of. Your ears aren't great measurement sticks.

Planars can take a lot of power though so I'm not negating what you said, but "I volume matched by ear" isn't a great comparison.

Ah one of those people again. The amount of listening test were done and audiophiles were full of shit in all of them.

That’s just too extreme. Even with my limited experience, I’ve heard differences from mobile EK17, to Audinst HUD-MX1, to iFi ZEN DAC V2.
