Hi guys. A few days back, i have post, ranting that i have a weird medical condition where i have different hearing capabilities accross the frequency range between my 2 ears. Turns out it was my laptop :)

It literally screw with my mind for weeks. I though i was unfortunate to have some kind of disease that makes me no longer capable of enjoy listening to music normally. Until today when i swapped 2 side of my cable (L side cable to R iem and vice versa). It completely switch my "hearing capability". That's when i know.

As you can see in my first video, using APO + Peace UI as measurements, it shows that my laptop have different "power generating" (is that a correct way to describe it?). It aligns with the characteristic that i talk about before (like only right ear can hear 50hz). I test it all with my 7hz 71 dac, KT 4099, Jcally JA3 as well as through the 3.5mm female jack on my laptop. They all behave the same way.

The last part of the video shows when i turn on APO to balance it out accross 2 channel, but by then the sound quality became so warped that i cannot listen to stuffs normally

My question is, to all laptop users especially Windows laptop, do you guys encounter this problem too? Using your laptop with desktop with the laptop's jack, with dongle dac, dac/amps, desktops amps, you name it. I wanna know what do you guys think

It's quite easy to check. Just install APO+peace UI, click on the "Peak value meter" and it should show that measurement.

Thank you for reading

I'd appreciate if you guys can also guide me how to solve this, or at least find a way to solve this. Thanks in advance

I'd disable APO or any other audio effects/eq applications first. Then check if the outputs (hardware) are fine or not. Check in sound settings too, the sound device properties, make sure to disable all effects.

Those pc/laptop headphone outs should just work as long as the driver is installed. It's something they figured years ago...

The "symptoms" like i describe like hearing 50hz mostly on the right side, happen even with out APO installed so the APO is not the reason why it happens. I don't use any audio effect. Just plug and play. The hardwares are fine. I tested all the dacs and iem in my possession with my phone, it doesn't have that imbalance. So yeah. It's makes me kinda crazy right now, not knowing what's the reason for this

You must be very lucky. If it's still in warranty, I'd have that replaced/fixed. If not, just use a dac.

If your dac connected to pc still has the same problem, then that is software issue. Maybe there is still some effects/eq running somewhere.

I use a dac (7hz 71, Faaeal KT4099, Jcally JA03) as well as just the 3.5mm female jack, it's all the same. So yeah, i think it's software issue. I mean, i manage to balance out the channel with APO turn on so it's definitely software related. I just don't know which ones

I noticed the DACs you mentioned are all dongles - try using a dac/amp with its own power cord, or a battery. Something that isnt powered by the laptop. Sounds like the motherboard on that laptop is super noisy.

If you boot into a live linux environment does it do the same thing? If so, it is hardware on the laptop somehow.

If not not then it is software and to be honest I would just make sure you have backups (which you should anyway) and re install a fresh install of windows as it looks like you have tried a great many things.
