I'm not sure if I understand but it made me crack the hell up lol. Raycons "scooping the mids" I assume means they ignore mid range and just boost bass and treble to try and sound "good"?

Correct. Raycons just make sound. Whatever they sound like isn't their (or anyone's) concern.
