Probably a better idea to ask before the purchase

I really enjoy them when paired to my Fold 4. I don't enjoy them so much paired to my iPhone. I won't go into detail because headphones are so subjective, but never in my life have I actually looked forward to listening to a pair of BT headphones until now (and I've tried MANY). The EQ via the Focal/Naim app can be used to suit your preferences to an extent.

That might just be a mental thing. Apple streams AAC over Bluetooth, which is actually a very good codec. Maybe his Samsung is streaming lossless, which is possible (idk much about android) but even if that were true, you won’t hear a big difference if any at all. Don’t worry about using iPhone as a source, if you like the EQ of them, you’ll enjoy them

I just grabbed them myself. They’re really great, and I have a review coming by end of week. There’s a few quirks I didn’t like, but overall, definitely worth checking out

I wish the yokes were slightly longer as it is on the last one to reach over my ears. My AirPods Max are like this too, but they clamp differently I think.

I wish there was a passive mode to listen with ANC off (though I understand this is due to keeping tuning consistent so I understand)

I wish the EQ was more than 5 bands, there is a delay in switching between sound modes, transparency mode has a noticeable hiss in it, and while ANC is definitely tolerable, I do wish silent mode was stronger.

I bought these for the Focal sound, which I’m a fan of, and though I added a little treble through the EQ, it is definitely the best wireless headphone I’ve ever listened to

That’s helpful, thanks. Odd that you can’t turn ANC off. That hiss would drive me insane but I never use transparency mode. I’m worried that if I buy these I won’t use my Celestee anymore haha. But I’d imagine there’s a noticeable difference in sound quality.

i don't have a very scientific way to describe it, but i also have a fold 4 and it's not lossless. it just says aptx. however, i can say with 100% certainty that the bathys sounds better over aptx compared to my wife's iphone12 pro over aac. just sounds like seeing the sun through the clouds if that makes any sense lol.

I have to agree. Still figuring out the Bathys.
Sounds "OK" ok the iPhone 14 Pro Max but sounds more "ALIVE" on the Sony Xperia 1 IV. Its perhaps a debate of AAC vs aptX Adaptive in my case.

Playing around with the DAC at the moment and getting some very strange results which warrants more investigation. Tidal streaming from PC vs Sony Xperia yields very audible differences. Spoiler, the mobile phone produces more details... weird.
