Hi guys,

Not sure if this is a suitable place to ask but I'm not sure where to really look for this specific gift. Basically, my dad works in freezers, and with the fans constantly running, he complained before that it hurts his ears over long periods. I got him a pair of headphones before as he likes listening to radio as he works but he says he's starting to hear vibrations from the audio after a while.

Is there some earphone or headphone that would be both noise cancelling and not lead to him getting tinnitus over long hour work periods?

I don't have an answer but you should make sure he'd be able to use them at work. Where I work I'm not allowed to even bring my own protectors.

Its fine, he is self employed, so when he moving his stock around he likes to listen to tunes

Grado has that industrial look to them that machinist would probably like. Sounds good for older people too cause they are less sensitive to high frequencies.

Edit: Just read that he likes to move around, perhaps IEM would be a better choice? I am not that well versed in IEM though. But Grado has their GW100 bluetooth headphone, you can look into them if you're interested.

Bluetooth ear defenders would be ideal imho (assuming he has a Bluetooth capable device)

Look within occupational safety/recreational shooting instead of audio. 3M, MSA, and Walkers all offer electronic hearing protection that filters out loud noises but amplifies anything below 85dB. If the battery dies they just turn into earmuffs. Get gel pads if you can afford the extra $50.

3m worktunes might be up his alley, can't vouch for sound quality though, but it'll protect his ears at work for sure.
