Beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 80 Ohm + Mobile Devices?

Hey guys,

First question:

I am super new to headphone-science-stuff and therefore i may have made a mistake: I now own the 80 ohms version of the DT770. I don't own an Amp though and wanted to know if the headphones will still deliver good Soundquality for music?

Second question:

How can i set equalizer settings in a way that the highs get slightly less sharp and overall harsh? Any recommendations for an app?

Youll hear your headphones, theyll just be quieter than they could be.

Just used them last night this way. They're fine without an amp if you're listening to music specifically. Could be louder for spoken word type content but it inly really matters if you're in a loud environment. I listened to music while my girlfriend played games on the TV yesterday and had no issue.

They’ll probably be too quiet for you imo (depending on what you’re plugging them into). If you’re fine at listening at a volume that might be too low for you then not getting an amp is fine.

As for sound quality improvements, my DT990 (basically the same as the DT770) gets a little bit extra bass and a bit more clarity in the music when you get an amplifier. It’s pretty noticeable in my opinion, but not necessary at all

I wasn’t satisfied with it so I got a 32 ohm so it could be louder. Maybe I’m deaf or something but yea

I used to run them out of an iPhone 13 with a dongle and yeah they might not be crazy loud but they really don’t need to be. I think if you want an amp, get a FiiO BTR5. Bluetooth or USB-C and they run them just fine!

Personally, I had little problem even running the 250ohm 990s, but it could vary from phone to phone depending on the in build amp. Pretty sure you'll be fine with the 80ohm model.

Regarding your second question, on android I recommend Wavelet as an equalizer. Just pull down the ~5k-10k frequencies to your liking. Wavelet also comes with pre-made equalizer curves for many headphones, also worth a try
