Either, but yes with the lights off and listening in a dark room does seem to improve my perception imaging in binaural tracks for me

I like listening to music with my main room light off but with my desk lamp on, it shines behind my monitor.

turning the lights low really lets you focus more. its a usefull technique when listening to musing, when doing things in bed or both...no bt fr turning the lights low or off and even closing your eyes really helps your brain build the sounds around you

With lights off, I end up adding a bunch of songs to my playlist but when I listen to them the next day I don’t recognize any of it πŸ˜‚ it really is a different experience

You have the power in your hands

Caffiene, DPH or DXM is the best for me straight up

But for dxm I'll just sit and listen to happy by Pharrell for hours, which idk if that counts as music πŸ€”

Ranked on how much they affect the sound:

Headphones > Drugs > Amps > Lights > Dacs

Off. And I listen more in the winter, when it's actually dark in the evenings.

I feel like I hear more detail in the music while listening in the dark, but if I do listen in the dark then there is almost a %100 chance I’ll fall asleep in like 5 minutes lol

Most things effect the sound more than cables. What you are that day will effect the sound more than cables (unless they're really shitty cables)

I close my eyes and listen in bed. It’s where I get the most immersion

I listen to my music the same way I make love. I spend a lot of money on toys and then do it in the dark and alone

Some people go out and bite people in the face on DXM cough medicine aka robocough. My BIL saw it happen himself

"Taking this much DXM causes a trance-like state and sensations similar to out-of-body experiences. Delirium and hallucinations often lead to aggressive or violent behavior. People also experience reduced pain perception."

I sit in a trance just believing everything I hear and doing whatever I'm told. Crazy shit. Pharrell says we're happy and I'm cheesing...

Do not take this ever for sure. You could straight up commit assault πŸ€”

I actually really want to know the answer to the best music drug now

Soundstage gotta be benadryl. I think dph aka benadryl would be the audiophile drug overall because it increases how good music sounds without a mood boost or pleasant hallucinations (unless you like spiders)

It also destroys your insides just like how audiophila destroys the inside of your bank account

I turn on a strobe effect to do both at the same time.

Most of the time I have my lights on but sometimes if I wanna get super immersed into my music I’ll turn the lights off.

The preference is lights off but I also listen while working. It’s a different kind of listening though.

I listen with lights on while walking around house organizing or cleaning or working on a project.

With my attention divided if something remarkable happens on the track or the gear I go back and relisten.

If I sat in a chair with lights off I'd be asleep in 4 minutes.

I find closing eyes as well helps massively for imaging. Drums are a thing of beauty with IEM's in the dark with eyes closed. I figure this is probably closely tied to how much the individual can visualise things more generally as well.

RGB lights slowly fluctuating between some warm purple color and some cooler purple color just really open up the soundstage. But make sure your cable powering those lights cost more than the lights themselves so that the colors can really shine.
