Favorite setup I have found for casual listening. Argon MK3 and ifi hip dac. Have a rather large collection of stuff, and this makes me question the need for items that are several times more expensive. It is not as technically capable as my other setups but tends to be a more enjoyable all-rounder.

I just got a 2nd-hand T60RP which runs just fine on my Fiio BTR 5 2021. Lovely sound, whether with or without Wavelet profile enabled.

Ever since I got my Argons I have been living in them.. I don’t know how to explain why it’s more fun to listen to, but it definitely is keeping me from buying a TOTL. What else is currently on the sideline for you?

Currently HD800s, ZMF VC, TH900mk2, lcdx, Arya Stealth, and bunch of midfi stuff. Typically switch it up every few days. Honestly don't think I would've traveled as far down the rabbit hole if I started with the Argons. First 2 were hd650 and he400i. Didn't care for either that much and started trying a bunch of stuff.

I have argons and 9 others. They are my closed back benchmark. I have LCD-x and I rate the two very closely. I don't have a decent dynic driver set but planars are incredible and I can't see myself wanting for anything else. Well that's bull I'll buy some focal eventually.

How do the argons compare to the th900mk2?

What pads are you using on your t50?

I usually go for the perforated suede universe pads.

Currently oval protein. I have pretty much every zmf pad but haven't pad rolled on the t50 yet.

Nice, haven't tried that combo. My oval protein is just laying around, used to have it on my m40x years ago.

AKG K712 Pros and a Schiitstack JDS Stack. Might not be the best sound for the price bracket but I think the K712s are the most comfortable headphones while still being competitive in sound for a few hundred. Could also do a BTR5 and an E10K for mobile and desktop, respectively.

EDIT: Schiitstack bad QC bad, go with JDS stack!

AKG k712 need more recognition. Really good with tube amps and amp Sims.

hipdac + sundara here, works great together :)

A used LCD-2 Closed plugged into anything pretty much if that's an option. Otherwise Sundara with whatever amp/DAC that has the juice to do EQ.

I’ve been rocking a pair of grado 125X’s and a BTR 5 and its honestly been awesome for under 500$ cad. Imagine once you break the $500 mark it becomes diminishing returns, i could be very wrong though.

My favorite sub-$500 setup is my Etymotic ER4SR and Qudelix 5K. It might even be my favorite setup overall.

Probably ModHouse Argon MK3 + Fiio K7 (I haven’t tried it but for $200 the amount of features you get on that amp are amazing)

Modded t50rp's are so freaking OP. Definitely my choice with Ori pads, leather strap and BMF-esque mods. I run them off my LG V60 which really shouldn't be able to run them as well as it is. They complete with $700+ headphones (ref. Focal Elex) and the mod including all parts only cost me like $200.
