Found a great B-stock deal on the LCD-X's to upgrade from my 6XX's (never owned planar's either) and wow these are awesome. Listening for the first time so know my ears still need to get used to the headphones over the next few weeks but can def see the improvements. I primarily listen to all kinds of electronic music these days, especially ambient, glitch, drone, dub techno, house, etc and am a bass lover who is sensitive to too much treble so based off different opinions i've read, these seemed like a good fit for me to upgrade to.
They were obviously quite a bit of money even with the sale, so I've held off on upgrading my DAC (fiio E10k) and amp (Monoprice Liquid Spark set at between 11 and 12 on low gain) for now, although I've heard I can further improve the headphones especially with a more powerful amp potentially? Once I recoup more funds, I'm planning to explore more options here down the road now that I've found my 'end game' headphones at least for a long time. Also running oratory's EQ for the Audeze 2021 LCD-X right now as well as I read these headphones require ample EQ'ing. Overall quite pleased, although I may boost the bass on mine a bit more heh. Nothing compares in that department compared to my high quality JBL subwoofer I got passed down (have heard bass on my bloody valentine's Loveless that I never knew existed and that even these LCD-X's can't fully convey, although that unveiled bass was prob due to my cramped apartment setup and was overpowering the mix...)
I realize the LCD-X's may not be at their full power yet with just my e10k and liquid spark combo, but i'm happy for now until I feel comfortable spending more money again, jumping on the deal for these headphones was just a once per year opportunity i didn't want to pass up.
To any other LCD-X owners, are there other things I could be doing to further improve the sound of these cans or ensure I give them a good, long life?
