Mostly a non issue, but DSP allows for more options and fancy audio tricks/gimmicks.

Most basic would be EQ, but it can also involve crossfeed, surround virtualization, etc

These things are easily (and commonly) outsourced.

There are hundreds. Not all.of them focus on wearables. There are also hardware vs software DSP. Use Google and you'll find a ton. Cirrus audio, adi, dspconcepts, Sony, ess, the list goes on...

In the Bay Area you can find companies like that within walking distance regardless where you are.
