Seems like Moondrop just announced a new DSP wired earphone. Yes, wired. Quite interesting, if any asian forum members have more details, do post them!

I dont think so. They explicitly mention DSP, which leads me to believe they will at the very least include an app with basic EQ.

If it is just a simple usb c version of either, then that would be the most underwhelming release in a while.

Interesting. Tuning is usually not an issue with Moondrop products, right?

Well it being a type C version would mean that it has its own DAC, allowing them to DSP correct to whatever FR they want. I'd have thought they'd do an app for EQ support, the question is which of their existing models are they going to base it on?

Edit: come to think of it, the more likely and logical product would be a 2 pin USB C cable (plus an app with EQ functionality).

I suppose there are 3rd party solutions even Dunu has a full adapter swap system. Since its Moondrop's first attempt (with Type-C connector) I don't think they want to cannibalise by giving a generic 2-pin connector with Type-C. But I hope we do get to see that one day.

In just thinking in terms of potential sales volume. Logically they'd stand to make a lot more money off of a near universal cable with parametric EQ functionality than they would from a single IEM, since it could appeal to people running anything from low end to top tier IEMs (and not exclusively moondrop's own models either).

They could offer just the cable on its own, as well paired with an IEM (or even multiple IEMs across the price range). Looking at it that way it seems like the smart business decision to me, as it would minimise manufacturing costs and maximise potential sales. Whether they go this route remains to be seen.

Dsp? So digital signal input to earphones?

Interesting. Perhaps a standalone portable dac/amp that has a range of preset equalization curves that can adapt to any Moondrop product. Would be great if they included some 2-channel spatial DSP simulating different room spaces and speaker types.

Similar to Audeze Reveal except a hardware dongle.

It would make sense to put the DAC and amp into the USB-C side of a cable, apple style, and output to an analogue 2 pin connector on the earphone side and let users plug whichever moondrop IEM they want.

I'm hoping for good out of the box tuning but with very good DSP hardware with more than just EQ.

This is... weird. I read it and I think, "so a portable dac/amp?". Then I remember moondrop makes TWS, so I think, "so a flagship TWS with an app for EQ and maybe anc?". Then op says a wired earphone, so i think "Wtf?".

a DAC doesn't necessarily have DSP capability. You would need a dedicated IC for that.

I don't remember where but I believe it was a leak that Quarks will receive an USB-C option, while Chu has been somewhat a success for some reason I don't remember mention about something similar on the leak.

ah my bad, I misinterpreted your comment to mean "it has a DAC, so it can use DSP".

But what you said was that since the USB-C connection can be digital, this allows to put digital devices (like a DSP) in between the USB connector and the analog connection to the headphone.
Which is correct of course.

It is a type-c IEM assembles a dsp! Funny huh..

There are hundreds. Not all.of them focus on wearables. There are also hardware vs software DSP. Use Google and you'll find a ton. Cirrus audio, adi, dspconcepts, Sony, ess, the list goes on...
