Here is a little background info: I am driving this off of my fiio E10K. First impressions are positive, build quality is really good, they are comfortable and very lightweight. Sound is good but I‘m not blown away, clarity is better than my Grado GW100 by a bit, I really do notice that in busier parts of songs. Bass performance is fine, would have liked a bit more sub bass. Vocals are good, soundstage decent, slightly wider compared to my GW100. Overall sounds great to me (could be a bit more of that sweet deep bass)

Update after 1 week of use: I‘ve listened to them a lot and have been able to hear more and more of these small details that make songs exciting again. While they didn’t exactly „Wow“ me at first, they certainly have many times by now. Vocals in some songs sound so natural and realistic, imaging is so precise and you can differentiate each and every instrument from another. It‘s really a whole new experience. Even though the soundstage isn’t extremely wide, they are super airy, it’s like music is floating into my ears instead of being played inside of them. Everything has it‘s own space, even though the whole stage isn’t huge. I love them. Now I just need a portable dac / amp to enjoy them with my phone (I‘m currently eyeing the tempotec sonata hd v, seems to have enough output power and all the features I need)

Not sure how well that one works but it seems recommended often. I ran a schiit stack. I see tubes recommended often for the HD6XX but haven't tried them. I don't think there's a wrong answer, just all about what you like best!

I will recommend trying the oratory1990 EQ. I really enjoyed it.

I think this is a pretty typical response.

What you may find interesting is in 5 years from now after you’ve purchased many more expensive headphones, you’ll still find yourself frequently reaching for the 6XX.

I’ve made this comparison before, but the 6XX are like the Honda Civic of the audiophile world. There’s nothing flashy or exotic about them, but they’re just a really good product. They sound good, they’re well built, they’re deceptively comfortable, and they’re reliable and enjoyable.

You can find headphones with more detail and deeper bass and more exotic build materials and much wider soundstages. And yet even audiophiles with virtually unlimited budgets tend to love the 600/650/6XX and keep one in their collection.

Driving a Corvette and a Ferrari and a Bugatti can be a ton of fun. But sometimes you just want a Honda Civic in your driveway.

Congrats my dude....So happy for you. Do yourself a favor and don't let others tell you to go by anything else instead of what you have. Be very aware of the Law of Diminishing Returns. And be especially watchful for the purist that wants you to avoid Software EQ's, when they can pretty much create whatever sound you want today or tomorrow. Be happy and enjoy yourself with your choice

Only if you absolutely love these. Otherwise that money is better spent on different headphones. If subbass is your jam, you will never really get that satisfaction out of HD6XX.

Agreed! Aside from songs with an emphasis on sub bass, everything sounds just as it should in the sense that nothing sonically sticks out or lacks in the frequency spectrum on these cans. I have the DCA Expanse as my main HP and offloaded a couple of cans that consequently got completely supplanted, but I won’t part with my HD 600.

You‘re right. It’s always like that with my IEM purchases ;) At first I think „that’s not a big difference“ and when I listen to them for a while and then come back to other IEMs I realize what I‘m missing. The 6XX have amazing vocals btw, the detail and realism there is incredible

When I bought my 800s they had no fabric on the foam as well.

Still my daily drivers - was on 7+ years now I can't convince myself to let them go and bought the 6XX massdrop version on a super sale to keep the originals as a backup.

One of my fave sets ever.

Good first choice. Now time for a dac and amp.

Which one do you recommend? My Fiio E10K doesn’t seem to have problems with them. I‘d kinda like a tube amp but they cost upwards of 250$, I can’t seem to find an inexpensive one (100-ish is what I would call inexpensive for a tube amp)
