Looks like those rough waves would generate a noticeable noise floor, ruining the dynamic range. /s

Yeah next time we need to find a vacation rental that has had its foundation acoustically dampened.

RoonArc on iPhone > iFi Hip Dac2 > Oppo PM-3 somewhere on the remote Northern California coast.

I use Roon for EQ at home but don’t have an EQ option while away from home which is where the PM-3 comes in - not a perfect Harman curve but smooth, enveloping, just enough detail, and comfortable for hours of listening, wave-watching, and whale spotting.

I'm really hoping EQ/DSP will come to Roon ARC soon. That's the only reason I'm not using Roon ARC at the moment.

do you think they are better than hifiman sundaras?

1

LiveZumbi t1_j22cv8w wrote

Never heard sundaras, from the specs i think they are completely different as the oppo pm3 has a warmer signature with punch bass and excellent definition without compromising anything.

Furthermore, in terms of sound and build quality they are on par with most of high end cans.

I miss the PM-3. I got to try them once but couldn't afford them back then and now they are nowhere to be found. Such a great pair with a wonderful view!

Really wanted to love the hipdac but had to send it back as I'd plug it in to charge overnight and it'd still be flat in the morning, not sure why but it killed it for me. Looks like you've got a nice view and a good setup though, bit jealous, enjoy.
