For metal I would really recommend looking into the 1990 or 1770. The 1990 is just a tad bit better but the 1770 has great isolation as a close back.

How do you like the Noires for rap music? Are the rapper's vocals present or recessed? I needed a closed back so I pulled the trigger on these and should be arriving tomorow. Wanted these for the comfort mostly.

That's Actually main reason I got them was for rap, pop and stuff like that. The vocals were fine and the bass wasn't so overwhelming it got annoying. Not sure it will be replicated though. I was listening to it on the gsx mini, which I don't have at home.

Love my Aeon 2 Noire, currently my closed back end game. One day I might own the stealth, but it's not on the cards currently.

Zx507. Only problem is not enough power so thinking of a cheap dongle amp for it.

Are you running it balanced? The balanced output has something like four times the power of the single ended. My WM1A is more than powerful enough for my Aeon Closed X over balanced. You will of course have to purchase a 4.4mm cable for your Aeons.

Oh yea. I have balanced cables. Me and Dan actually talked about that. But I'm okay with the home only set up for these at the moment.

I have lyr3 and headamp Gilmore mk 2 with modified capacitors.
But would like to upgrade to gsx mini for solidstate perhaps.
And an upgrade to the lyr + I Don't like many tube options out there tbh.

I've been so curious about the meze 109, so if you go that route please report back!

We'll see. I might just want an open back planar for a change of pace. I remember liking the Diana buuuttt it's not like I'm listening to hi-res recordings either

So I am a metalhead mostly, rap, and many other genres.
I am Thinking of getting an Ananda, grado 325x, meze 109 pro as an open back I can drive without much hassle.
For closed back I can use it at work and maybe travel with. I don't care much for noise cancelling features. audio Technica ath-900, audio Technica msr7b, momentum 4.
