Close to 2 years ago, I picked up these K240 for $9 at a local antique store. I had heard about them, but never tried them. Now after having them this long, I think I have a good feel for the sound of them. The treble and mids are really pronounced and clear, whereas the bass is lacking even for reference headphones. If you try to give them more bass (like I did using the receiver shown), they have flutter once you get to around half volume. How do you guys feel about these headphones?

The 240 series is really great. The vocals sound like they're directly in the center of your head. I just bought a vintage ad for these headphones on ebay.

As far as I am aware, yes. Its there to replicate studio monitor sound on headphones.

I love them. I have a pair and can drive them well. I describe them in three words: clear, precise, light. Everything sounds so clean and surprisingly non-sibilant. Yes, bass is a bit lacking in strength but sounds very tight and clean as well. I just f***ing love the Mids on these especially!
