So this is news to me.. The OEM earpads for $1500 headphones are these small Sony Walkman looking crap pads??

I've never seen these headphones in person (mostly because poor) but i would have thought they would have come with something a little more ｐｒｅｍｉｕｍ.

What makes a different material or thickness of pad more premium? Not trying to simp for the brand but the OEM pad was designed that way for a reason. Not saying that it sounds the best way possible with that pad and that it's sacrilegious to mess with it but other pads will sound different for better or worse depending on your taste. The OEM pad is how Sennheiser wanted it to sound/feel.

I was mostly talking about the looks, at least from the picture they look very cheaply made! However given the other replies on my post they are not cheap/they work as intended. I hope one day I would be able to afford a pair so I can eat my words lol

to be fair, the alcantara pads for the HD800 (the stock pads) are amazing...They also give them the sound sennheiser wanted them to sound like, a few pads like eg dekoni are imo a bad match with the HD800 and I'd go stock pads with the HD800 any day. Still need to try the ZMF Pads.

I tried the ZMF Velour and they definitely make them sound slightly more anemic and distant because of the thicker pads compared to stock, the bass is just a tiny bit more recessed... definitely not my cup of tea.
