well as the tittle suggested, i brought a pair of KOSS ksc75 for myself, and while they did indeed sound fantastic and we're confortable to use for me, they lasted what? like a month? a month and a half being generous.

the worst part it's that i already have a good rotation of headphones or IEMs to choose from and the KSC75 weren't even used daily or outside my house. they were used strictly indoors and to listen to music for a couple hours max a week, yet, the right driver stopped sounding unless I move the connection cord in weird positions.

now my question is, what do I do with them?

can't return them to Amazon for two reasons.

1- I live in chile and the shipping would be a hassle for me 2- Amazon barely offered me 16$ USD, which is like half of what I paid for them? (20 USD + 10 taxes + shipping)

so as you might see, even if I wanted to return my pair of headphones, it's not worth it because I end up losing money (even if it's a little of money, it does count for me as I am an uni student).

I spoke to Amazon customer service and they would me they could not get me replacement (only return for cash), but redirected me to send a message to the seller (which is KOSS itself) to see if they could make my guarantee valid outside the US (which I hope so because I do have interest in keeping this headphones, just not broken).

if everything else fails, what do you guys recommend me to do? I'm not returning them unless they give me a new pair, and if I'm stuck with my broken pair, to you think it would be possible to solve this issue right the right driver? and how hard would it be?

there's also the problem that i don't know how to fix headphones cables myself, i don't have the tools, and I don't know anyone that does either (or that i trust doing so) so that's another problem alongside the main problem. if I could I would keep the KSC75 just to try to make them wireless TWS with an adaptor, but I've 0 resources to do so 😭

I'm feel.stucl r/headphones, money's tight right now and I don't have the necessary tools to fix them myself, what should I ultimately do? just give in for the Amazon cash?

funny enough I bought them with a friend's CC so the money wouldn't even reach my hands probably.

feels like as it doesn't matter what choice I choose because it will still be wrong. why did had MY PAIR fault after only a month when I see people enjoying them for far more and giving them a much rougher treatment that i did? I'm just unlucky or is it KOSS QC sucking ahh?

Funnily enough, my KSC75 also died after around a month. Had PortaPros die on me before after fairly short amount of time. Then a wire ripped out after a moderate accidental tug on another pair. KOSS build quality/reliability is not what i would call good.

I don't wanna be rough on loss because they DO make good headphones. but one month of usage before breaking is straight up manufacturing future trash

I had a pair of ksc last me 2 years with daily use falling asleep with them on. My Porta pro have yet to break on me after 1 year of daily use as my otg headphone. It not hard to not break them, just treat the stuff you own with respect.

bruh I just opened my KSC75, they came with a defect from the factory

What is the defect, I have like 15 pairs and have only seen one pair that was from mass drop that had a defect.

indeed, VERY back luck 😔

KOSS said I could send them back to them, but guess what, it's much much more expensive for me to do that, than to buy another pair from Amazon.

unless I find a way to fix this myself (or meet someone that can), this is a F for me.

what a shame

Looks like an easy fix to me, 1 minute solder job

I'll try to take a better photo for you to see, ok you tell me if you think they're fixable

Yeah, that cable just needs desoldered, twisted, then soldered back and it should be good

2

olqerergorp_etereum OP t1_j6jmovk wrote

well that sounds easily enough, I'll see if I can find someone to do the job for me for cheap, but that's another problem on it's on.

once fixed, how do you think I can prevent this from happening again?

1

Fukuramichan t1_j6jnjeq wrote

It probably came like that so it shouldn't happen again if it's resoldered the correct way

okay, thanks.

I saw some videos were people fill that cavity with super glue or something like that's i thought they did that so they prevent the cables from snapping

Conversely, for the price, I'd say the build is excellent.

If it was the cable what failed, you can try to replace it. It's a shame that the reason they break is also why they are easy to repair. Mine lasted 7 months before the cable failed but there're plenty of videos, tutorials and people who had moded them and turned pretty amazing also You don't need complicated tools or techniques so don't be afraid of trying to fix them and continue enjoiyng that amazing pair of headphones. They are súper easy to dissasemble and if You don't feel confident take them with a radio technician I bet it's going to he cheap. Good luck mate!

thank you, I'll see some YouTube videos and see what I can do, as that is far more easier than dealing with koss internationally

Just toss them out. They’re designed to be disposable and Koss hasn’t made any improvements to common build complaints.
