In 1982 the renowned Alexander McKee's efforts to excavate Henry VIII's famous warship The Mary Rose paid off, and the ship was pulled from the seabed by the combined efforts of the Royal Navy and an archaeological dig team. Disaster struck during the raising and the ship was nearly lost once more, but now she sits in her own dedicated state-of-the-art museum on a naval base in Portsmouth.
