Hey everyone, I'm looking for an affordable option to use as a backup phone, to make and receive calls, I won't be using it for social media since I have my main phone (optional, if I still can use some basic ones i.e Whatsapp, but it can be left out), and don't care about 5G support, because I can use 2G, 3G and 4G with my carrier.

I really liked the iPhone 5s design, if that helps, and you think it's still an option, but I don't mind on getting a larger screen (such as an 6 or 6s) also, I'm looking to spend less than $100 USD, maybe I can find something in good shape and decent battery health.

I'll be reading your suggestions.

If you want a cheap back up phone just use a prepaid from Walmart. You don’t want to tie into another line contract just for a backup phone.

I recently bought a phone and service bundle from Mint for a secondary personal line. Got 6 months free with it too so not a bad deal. Still deciding if I’ll actually renew it after the first year.

Indeed, a prepaid is what I had in mind.

iPhone 6 or SE. Under $50 for either which leaves a bit of money for a fresh battery.

Edit: more importantly unlike the 5S they both offer VoLTE which is an absolute must for use in the US.

Get a 5s, I’d say. Will be enough just for calls and stuff. 7s are going pretty cheap these days too!
