I just got my base model iPhone SE (2020) this week and couldn’t be happier.

For context, I already have an iPhone 13 Pro Max as my main phone but I got the SE for the sole purpose of using it in bed. The screen is just the right size to prevent eye fatigue before going to sleep and the form factor makes it so easy to hold while lying down.

Sure you can say that I still have a large phone to complement this one but I find myself gravitating towards the SE during the day.

The only caveat is I only stay at home and if I’m going out, it’s almost always not used (aside from the occasional calls and texts) that’s why I think the battery life is enough.

But all in all, I could say that I am fully satisfied with this purchase. :)

It’s one thing to buy an iPhone. It’s another thing to buy a second iPhone just for bed.

I can’t wait to upgrade my iPhone SE 2020 (purchased in 2020) for the hopeful iPhone 15 Pro. If I don’t trade it in, maybe I’ll use it for bed too, haha.

Dudeee! The form factor of the iPhone SE makes it really easy to use in bed. Just enough to not have eye strain when watching content. 👌🏼

I’d use the bigger phone in bed (bigger screen if you’re watching videos or playing games or whatever) and the SE during the day where portability and ease of use is more important.

If I had two phones. But I don’t like using my phone on the bed before sleeping as I’ve found that my sleep quality increases drasticaly if I don’t use my phone before sleeping.

You can pick up the 2020 SE for $150 if you get a plan with a prepaid carrier. Have the service for 3 months and cancel. It will be unlocked and your to use wherever you want. This is a great device and the form factor is still a winner in my book.

Seems like the weight of the 13 pro max deterred you from using it in bed, hence the SE purchase. Would the 14 Plus have met your needs? It’s 38 grams lighter without giving up screen size. It just lacks promotion.

I would think the 14 Plus would be a lot more expensive than the SE 2nd gen

Carrier deals have had pretty great installment deals.

I dont think I would need another big phone. But if I only had one, I’d still choose the iPhone 13 pro max, albeit, not in bed. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Oh yeah i was saying 14 plus as the middle ground to replace both. Not two big phones lmao

I had iPhone SE 2020 and I couldn’t wait to upstage, yeah size is comfortable but poor battery life not so great camera was pain in the ass for me, I could stay longer with this phone because I had it only for 10 months but already after this time battery life dropped to 82%, I’m much happier with 14 now

Good take but I have to disagree. It’s so wild to me that apple is still using a design from 2014 (iPhone 6). Looks incredibly outdated and is priced accordingly. The fact that they include current gen chips is pretty incredible though

The design is exactly why I got it. For my use case which is just a device for bed, it works wonders as it is very easy to hold. I agree with you on the current gen chip tho. It is a beast.

The SE is having the iPhone 8 design on a modern device. On purpose. Because some people like it more than the iPhone X design (which my iPhone 13 still has, just a slightly narrower notch)
