I like minimal wallets, but still need to carry cash on me at times. While the convenience of the MagSafe wallet is appealing, there are those times when 3 cards (2 really when you factor I need to carry my driver's license) and no cash just won't cut it.

What do you do? Are you just switching back and forth between multiple wallets? Ideally, someone would make a wallet that almost "docks" that MagSafe wallet and holds cash and other cards and you can just keep it all together when you need it or undock the MagSafe wallet when you're taking a quick run to the store.

I know this is a total first-world problem, but curious what those who use it and love it do in those situations?

I’m an older fellow and we are not particularly known for minimalist wallets. I have tried MagSafe wallet before and it was never enough. So I gave in and got a Ridge wallet. Now I don’t half a huge bulge on my butt from a 6 inch thick leather wallet.

I just carry another wallet if I know I’ll be in a situation where more cards might be needed.

For example, when I’m traveling I’ll carry my minimal but still capacious wallet for my various credit and insurance cards.

When I go to work though, all I need is my drivers license, work ID badge and my debit card. Perfect for my MagSafe wallet, and my other cards are available via Apple Pay.

I have one of the pop socket wallets. I can comfortably fit 4 cards in there. Cash I’ll keep in either the opposite pocket, or if really necessary in my phone case.

I have a really small one that fits easily in my pocket. It holds like 4 more cards and some paper cash.

I use the MagSafe wallet when I know I only need a card and my license, and will occasionally stick a $20 bill in (such as when I am going out for a run and will stop at the corner store for coffee when I get back.) Otherwise I just carry my regular wallet.

The number of times that I've had to pay cash for anything since the lockdown in 2020 has been very low, though. I hardly ever need cash; I can often get by with Apple Pay, actually, and don't often need cards, either.

This is my experience as well. Do you carry two wallets when you’re going out and need your other cards/cash, or do you manually switch everything back and forth.

I manually switch things. Occasionally if I'm running late or something I'll carry both, but usually it's just one or the other.

Actually my main reason for wanting a full wallet is for receipts. If I'm running a bunch of errands, going to multiple places, I'm likely to carry my regular wallet just for storing the receipts.
