So, with “I’ll let you know”, Could you specify when? I mean, it takes 5 minutes. Anyway, This is a good answer. However, if it doesn’t work, try going to messages, and accounts I think? And turn off everything but your phone number. Could work. Also, try to disable any “save data” options in SMS/mobile and Wi-Fi settings. Could be the problem, too. If none of this works, you could ask apple, however, I never did myself, so you will have to see.

I’ve been having the same problem and it’s been driving me crazy. You just motivated me to play around a bit more and I may have figured out my issue.

Settings > Messages

In the iMessage area there’s the option to send & receive from your number as well as from your iCloud or @me accounts.

I deselected all options except for my phone number and it seems to be working now?

Maybe it just doesn’t like your bad spelling & grammar.

Log out of iCloud and back in. This will re-establish your device with Apple's database.

Sign out of your apple id and sign back in.

Had same issue with the 16.3 version of iOS. 16.3.1 fixed it. It was causing problems on both my phone and messages on my Mac.

Grammar feds keeping you from sending that message.

Are they actually Apple users though. I had this issue when a family member switched to Android for a while (now back on iPhone thankfully). It saw that they had an Apple account and no matter what I did kept trying to send messages using iMessage instead of SMS so none of my messages made it to them but theirs came through to me. They had to do something on their old iPhone to fix it.

You have to turn off iMessage or every message from an Apple device will go to your iMessage instead of text

As an ex Verizon employee, its Apple that sucks ass

Turn your phone on/off then disable/enable iMessage. Your phone’s system needs a second to reconnect to the database/syncing issue.

My sister and I always have this issue when we get new phones 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ahh yes, the update pretty much made it where you have to spell them correctly in order to send them. Thanks apple! XDD

I had this problem recently. Do you use a VPN? If you do turn it off and see if that helps.

I've had this issue when traveling to Europe and using multiple sims. Is most likely a problem with your network settings. Google that (I’m on a plane about to take off), and that should give your answer. You may need to re type some of the information.
