Has anyone tried to use iMazing to transfer data? I want to transfer data from a specific app only and my last backup was a year ago. I also don't have space to set a new backup.

I used it several iPhone generations ago and it worked then. No guarantees about the current version. Sorry. But it is legit for what it’s worth.

It’s been a while. I think I tried some other free ones that did not work. Yes, I did pay for what I guess was the pro version.

They do run sales every now and then. I still get emails from them.

I used it recently to remove some JB files from my backup. It's legit.

Had to pay tho

One of my coworkers absolutely loves iMazing (mostly for the profile creator but also for everything else)

Yes it's legit. I bought it several years ago and it was worth every penny.

It's not from China? I am not sure if it's great idea to give your access to passwords stored in iPhone to Chinese software

I used it maybe 6 months ago to retrieve songs from my iPhone 8+ and a 160gb iPod.

I like it. It does its job and I’m able to back up everything easily so that I can free up my phone or iPad.

I still use the free version and it works fine.

Yep it’s a good software. There was an app that I used years ago but it’s not in the app store anymore and I just bought a 14 pro. So what I did was make an IPA for the app using my old iphone then installed it on my 14 pro using imazing

Best iTunes alternative you can find.

I used in the past. I paid for the app but I don't use it anymore. It is legit and all but I found it to be super slow even using it with an M1 Mac mini and an iPhone 14 Pro.

I use it for backups. I like that I can backup to an external hard drive or pretty much any place I tell it to. I have also used it to print out iMessage threads and it works great for that.

It’s legit but their licensing is so bad, it’s per serial number.

So if you get a new iPhone you have to buy the program again.

Hey sorry you don't like our licensing model, but to be fair we do offer a device-based license model as an alternative to the now ubiquitous yearly renewal license model (our Unlimited Device License).
The latter works best for users that want flexibility and need to use iMazing with various and new devices on a regular basis, typically when helping out their entourage managing their devices.
The former, Device License is more casual or entry level alternative that offers full features guaranteed to be working and updated with every release, during the entire life of their device ownership.
Hope this sheds a different light on the matter ;-)

Unfortunately it seems like the single user scenario hasn’t really been considered.

A single user who wishes to purchase a single license for their iPhone management is a scenario that doesn’t exist. Typically users change their phones every year, or every 2 years.

Their phones could get lost, stolen or replaced. All of these mean a new serial number and thereby disabling iMazing for them.

So single users are faced with no real option for long term use. Why you didn’t consider an option to purchase imazing with 1-2 years of updates and support is a mystery. Beyond that, users would have to pay for more updates.

That would have been less user hostile

According to Apple an iPhone's average ownership is approximately 3 years. So someone could decide to purchase a single Device License for that time, and as they upgrade to a new iPhone simply top up with another device slot. That same user, knowing that they are considering replacing their current device in a near or certain future could alternatively cater for that, and purchase 2 Devices License from the get go.

It's actually very flexible, and a fair way of ensuring that the we, the software developers are getting paid for constantly maintaining the software and ensuring it works as intended in an ever changing Apple framework environment, while constantly adding features - besides FWIW: we haven't charged our users for a single version update since the release of iMazing 2 in 2016 thanks to this model.

PS: We understand misfortune can strike and are certainly not interested in profiting from such an event. If your Apple device is lost or broken, please contact our support team for assistance with your license.

It’s flexible for you, not for the customer.

When a person buys a new phone, it’s a new product. Your product is the same experience that they will have to pay multiple times for if they simply change their phone.

It is user hostile and gives the customer the impression that what they are buying already has an expiry date, and not in a good way.

Why don’t you have an option to provide X years of updates, and after that they will have to buy a new license for the latest capabilities and features? That’s more fair, since users won’t have to be punished for buying a new device.

if i want to transfer data from my old phone to a new one, do i need to buy 2 device licenses?

Just one, for the device to which you are restoring the data - backing up is a free feature!

Do I need to export my data before transferring it if I am only looking to transfer data from one app?

From what I’ve heard you need to pay to restore the backup

I currently use it and In my three years of use I have yet to be disappointed. It was honestly more than I could have asked for.

Don’t go screwing that up devs lol.

I love iMazing, I’ve been a paying user for years. It’s got loads of useful tools, and I use it at least a couple of times a week.

Been handy for family & friend support for their iDevices as well.

It works for me on iOS 16. I mostly use it for automatic backups and photo transfers but it does a lot more than that.

It’s better than the shitty iTunes garbage that doesn’t even let you pick a different hard drive to back up your iPhone data.

You can have a 128 GB SSD on Windows 10 and if you back up your iPhone with iTunes, goodbye SSD storage.

At least with iMazing, you can pick a different location and a different hard drive to store your iPhone backup AND customize what can be backed up and restored to your device. It’s a very powerful backup tool.

Depending on what you are wanting to do, I’ve always used iExplorer. You can access texts, files, photos, call logs, contact, etc.

Weird-Ad1676 OP t1_jcx17sz wrote

is it better that iMazing?

1

After-Boysenberry-96 t1_jcx20ay wrote

I can't say as I've never used iMazing. I know that iExplorer works well though and will even access your backups, including those stored on your computer.

It’s good but let’s say you have an app that works. Then you upgrade and there are so many glitches you just wanna jump out a window. Now - let’s say you have the version of the app before it was broken on another device. Backing up that app via iMazing and trying to transfer that to your device that you want it on unfortunately just makes it download the most recent version, so that doesn’t work as advertised. Just FYI.

Edit - this is just my experience - if it does work I haven’t been able to figure out how which doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the program - may be user error on my part 🤷🏻‍♂️🙏🏻
