I just got a brand new 14 plus, 12 days ago and so far i hate it and I wish I still had my iPhone 10. It seems to lag in every single way possible, whether it’s navigating the internet or apps it seems to be a half second behind the speed of my old 10. Also when I’m on an app that plays video clips like Reddit especially it won’t load a video clip unless, I come to a complete stop on the thumbnail and either wait 10 seconds + , or enlarge the video and press the play/pause button a couple times to get it going. And even as I type this out I’m getting a lag on my keyboard, something I used to only experience when my old iPhone 10 was on 1% battery life.

So far I have no idea what to do, I’ve reset it, I’ve fully charged it, ive let it die completely, I’ve toggled the WiFi on and off. It just doesn’t matter. Has anyone out there experienced similar problems or was able to possibly fix these issues I’m talking about? I’m currently running iOS 16.2. It doesn’t have to do with Verizon wireless because it’s an issue whether I’m using the internet or not.

Take it back for a replacement

Take it to apple. Their support can either help or replace it if it’s defective.

Something is definitely wrong with it. Sure, any new iPhone has to update data (indexing) but that should at most result in a worse battery life for a few days. Get it checked by Apple or a repair shop.

You just got it. Give it a few days to finish indexing up to a week. It’s should be a much faster phone overall. If within a weeks time it isn’t resolved have it replaced.

I really don’t know where the ‘indexing’ thing comes from. You realize it’s 2023 and this smartphones are powered with a good cpu? Why would it even take weeks to index something? Phone should be good straight out of the box. That index thing makes me think of Samsung fan boys that are always saying ‘the phone is perfect just now, imagine in 1/2 weeks when the phone learns your usage’ after 1/2 weeks the phone still has the same performance and battery and they think it’s better due to placebo effect.

Indexing has nothing to do with CPU power. It’s all about optimizing a users restore with the updated OS, recompiling new and old data files to ensure smooth operation this process no matter how fast a CPU does indeed take time. Indexing has and always will be a thing, it’s been proven time and time again and can take from a day to roughly a week depending on how large a restore the user is coming from or if the device is setup as new.

Myth. 100% sure that if I restore a backup, like I previously did, my phone will be the same in every aspect. And it’s about data speed, iPhone uses NVMe, which is super fast with that. We are not in 2005 with HDD. And you don’t have any 100% method to prove me that index is a thing nowadays. Again, you’re wrong. If my backup was around 30 gb and my iPhone nvme couldn’t read and process that in 1 hour or less, I would just sell the phone, it’s a nvme after all, super high speed in reading and writing 😉

What you said just makes no sense. I just said what they always say on YouTube videos, comment section. I also own (and use) one Samsung, on pair with my 14 pro max. I never said I’m Apple fan boy, just that phones nowadays are good to go out of the box, there’s no indexing thing. Watch some videos about s23 ultra and check the comment section, you will see some people talking about ‘2 weeks later my phone will be better, learning pattern, bla bla’ I just gave the Samsung example because it’s where I see most of those comments. And that’s just myths. 😉
