This only works for me if there is no caller ID name associated with the call. In this case, the number appears much larger, in the same location that you see "WIRELESS CALLER" in the screenshot. In the case of my screenshot, I can long press on "WIRELESS CALLER" and copy that text, but I can't copy the phone number. Are you seeing the same thing?
Thelegend_48 t1_jdatmyl wrote
You can always take a screenshot of the number and then crop it so you can copy it using the photo kethod

This isn’t true at all, not sure where you pulled that from. Live Text works from the Xr / Xs and up.

How would I know? Probably, considering this is a notch phone and there’s only one model that doesn’t support live text

Touch message, then select and copy the number directly from the send to

Thanks, that's a good workaround

Damn I can’t believe such a basic option is missing
Scoliosis_king14 t1_jddfgnh wrote
You can't even edit a phone number that's pasted into the dialer. If you want to remove a number or add a number. You can't.
Crazy how basic features like this are missing.

I can literally long press on THIS screenshot and it does it

Yeah this is a good workaround. It’s surprising the how well it works. Usually even if you snap a pic of a crappy looking sign with a weird font it will work.

Long pressing the screenshot gives me a screen to copy or call or whatever. I can also easily just select and copy the phone number text. This is too funny.

What iPhone do live text work on?
RedditAnoymous t1_jdc26h2 wrote
Any iPhone and iPad with an A12 processor or newer..
olanmills OP t1_jdaf0it wrote
The phone number in the screenshot is some lowlife spam company.
It seems like if a call comes with some form of called ID (in this case, "WIRELESS CALLER"), then you can copy that name, but you can't select and copy the phone number. Am I missing an easy way to do this? The only way I see how is that I first have to save it as a contact and then open the contact details and copy the number from there
Maleficent-Tale-7974 t1_jdb2yod wrote
I always tell it to make a new contact, copy the number and cancel making a new contact.
mr2600 t1_jdbn291 wrote
It's super annoying. Screenshot option works and "fake" creating a new contact too.
I migrated to an iPhone with the launch on the 12 mini.
Love everything about it except using it as a phone.

Hit create new contact, then you will be able to copy the number and cancel creating the contact …
Illustrious_Risk3732 t1_jdao6r3 wrote
Press and hold on the number and it will show a dialog to copy.
olanmills OP t1_jdapst6 wrote
That doesn't work in this case. It only works if there's no caller ID name/title
RedditAnoymous t1_jdc2fuw wrote
In history list, press i on right and the above pic you posted shows up..
Then press and hold on the phone number and menu with copy (the number it is) will show up..
And by the way.. the number you posted seems to go to James D Dietter, ~36y from 9 Overlook Dr in Danbury and working at Realtor.com..
olanmills OP t1_jdnsfbi wrote
We’ll I have no business with him, so he's a spammer.
BTW, your solution doesn't work. Your method would work if there was no caller ID info present. (In this case, the caller ID identifies the caller as "WIRELESS CALLER ")
MrsBenSolo1977 t1_jdcvk81 wrote
I long press and copy comes up whether there’s caller ID or not.
olanmills OP t1_jdnsmi2 wrote
I'd like to see a screen recording of this. I can only long press "WIRELESS CALLER". Long pressing on the phone number doesn't do anything
UtahMama4 t1_jdbvwyc wrote
I am able to copy the text after saving your image. Are you also able to click the same place I did in the contact and copy the number? I did a long press.
olanmills OP t1_jdnsixd wrote
Sure it works from the text recognition feature of the screenshot, but not from within the phone app itself
ThatBrownDoode t1_jdci8zm wrote
Ideally you should be able to long press on the number to copy. Worst case: Take a screenshot and then copy it from the text.
