So I've been on Androids since forever and decided to change to Apple less than 2 months ago. There are just things that are very limited and outdated, keyboard, notifications etc..Would take me a while to name them all, most people have probably been stuck in one ecosystem so they wouldn't know what I mean. I've had a 4 year old android with better features and more freedom than my curent iphone 14 pro max, it's killing me slowly. Camera is outstanding obviously, system works flawlessly without any issues (even my old android worked well), siri is so useful too, and in general it's a great phone. I'm just limited with navigating through the system, keyboard, sharing media through different social media platforms (like wanting to send a fb meme to instagram chat) is slow and unnecessarily complicated. Notifications are just hard to manage.

TLDR: Thinking of trading my 14 pro max for s23 ultra. Thoughts?

If you're unhappy with the iPhone, go back to Android.

Apple is very slow at implementing features. It seems that actually they are concentrating all the efforts to the new AR/VR OS so iOS 17 will not have so much new features.

Maybe they will implement what you need in the future but surely not so fast as you can expect.

I think most people who are ride or die for the iPhone are deep in the ecosystem of products that are designed to work well with the iPhone. My watch, PC, tablet, smart home speakers, streaming device, and wireless headphones are all apple products.

Itā€™s definitely about the ecosystem and not being particularly interested in androidā€™s unique features for me.

Its just a phone. Not a big deal. If they were cheaper I would have a bunch of different ones.

Why are you posting here? Nothing you read here is as important as the fact that you like Android better.

I made the switch about 2 months ago myself, I had iPhone early till about the 4 and then switched to Android with the S4 all the way to the S21ultra. Yes there are things that Android does better and you have total free control over your phone. I thought I was going to miss those things but never happened. The keyboard, Ooh man I need a number row, don't miss it to much would be useful to have sometimes. I'm at the point where I just want something that works well with others, my family all had Iphones, wife and her family, my family I was the odd one out, and now its so much easier to communicate and send pictures with out losing the quality of the pics. So its just easier to use, and I love how when updates are available they are out day 1 and don't have to wait months to get an update. But if you miss it just go back, honestly who cares on here, its YOUR OWN preference and there is nothing wrong with that.

Iā€™ve used Android since the Galaxy S3 (first s/phone)

I switched to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I also got the watch, AirPods Max, and MacBook Pro.

Iā€™ll admit it took a little getting use to as the two platforms are obviously very different. BUT, having all the Apple products work together as seamlessly as they do is amazing.

iOS does what it does very well and does so much natively that takes extra apps on android.

Obviously itā€™s a personal preference but I do believe having the full ecosystem makes all the difference

As a former rabid apple hater long ago converted to the cult (and I use that tongue in cheek) by the fateful gifting of an iPod oh so many years ago, my first ā€œsmartā€ phone was android but quickly got replaced thereafter by, oh, I donā€™t recall exactly, iPhone 3? 4? Anyway, I canā€™t count the number of Apple products I own, have owned and probably will continue to own. My point in saying all this is that I recently picked up a new-ish android because there is 1 particular app I wanted to run that is only available on android. I canā€™t tell you what model it is, it is a Samsung, maybe 3 years old at this point and I hate almost everything about it. I find it confusing, and unintuitive and s-l-o-w. (And frankly iOS isnā€™t what it once was, I think they have lost their way as well) but all of that is to say, if you find that android meets your needs, and it is what you are used to, and you like it, then use it. I would argue there are many excellent things about android and there are many excellent things about iOS. Both also have their fair share of problems too, but, the one that works for you, and meets your needs, and gives you joy is the one you should choose without guilt, without remorse, and in spite of what anyone else tries to tell you. Best phone is phone that works for your use case. Thatā€™s my take.

Iā€™m 30 and honestly just want something reliable that does not require me to tinker around to make work. And that is what I absolutely love the iPhone and have had one since the iPhone 4. And I could never go to android (although I tried lots of times just for curiosity).

And Iā€™m not even on apple ecosystem (only have iPhone from apple anything else). And no use for iMessage in Europe also..

Itā€™s the ecosystem that I like and not the phone itself. If I have to send a text, picture or file to an Android user. I have to use a 3rd party messaging system or email. Communication with another iOS user is so much easier with iMessage and FaceTime. Our whole family along with extended one are on iOS and just makes life simple from iMessage, FaceTime, activity challenge. Find my (to see where my family are). I had the original Droid from 2009 and switch to iPhone 5 years ago. Now that Iā€™m deep in the ecosystem with a watch, iPad, and MacBook Iā€™ll never go back.

Changing an OS often takes some time to get used to. When I switched from Android to iOS there were a lot of things that just worked better on Android. I got used to a lot of stuff just by using it and it wasnā€™t that much of a deal anymore. On the other hand I was discovering stuff that worked a lot better than on Android. Just give it some time. And if it doesnā€™t work out for you just go back to Android.

What I really liked about iOS was that it comes with good default apps, has no bloatware, no multiple apps (like Google and Samsung apps), gets up to 6 years of feature updates.

Right, I'm worried about trading my phone with random people..so I'd rather get used to iOS instead, I'll hopefully end up like you

I have an iPhone because I rely on iMessage. But I prefer Android. If it wasnā€™t for iMessage Iā€™d switch back to Android in a heartbeat. Iā€™ve tried Airmessage/Bluebubbles and I canā€™t get it to work reliably enough for my use case. So here I am.

Iā€™d at least wait til iOS 17 is announced to see if it improves on what you want. Otherwise some people are better off on android.

I did the same thing. People acted like iPhone was so superior so I went from Z Fold to the new iPhone. I knew pretty quickly that iPhones ain't shit. It's just that these users have been using the same side for years and don't know about the other OS.

The freedom iPhone lacks is insane. I own this fucking phone so stop restricting my abilities.

iPhones are for teenaged girls and the elderly.
