I recently got a new iphone 14 max and when I have spotify playing and open another app spotify stops. Is there anyway to correct this so I can have spotify play when I have other apps open?

Depends on which apps you’re opening. iOS does not allow multiple audio streams, so if you’re opening an app that plays something, such as background music in a game, Spotify will get paused. Does it happen with every single app you switch to? Is your ringer silenced?

I typically play a game on my phone and listen to music while I do. Since I got my new phone Spotify stops whenever I open the game

Check the game settings for a mute option, if an app isn’t muted it can take priority from a background app.

Nope iPhone user since it came out. I didn’t have this issue with my old phone

This has happened to me too in the past, I think it may be a Spotify issue rather than a phone one as I have been able to play videos from Netflix/twitch out of the app without any issues.

Depending on how the foreground app is coded, you may be able to get around this.
First, it happens when a foreground app is also playing audio, or doing something invisible to the user with audio. The latter is always tricky, but my understanding is some apps play inaudible tones to fingerprint your device for ad targeting, which will pause already playing music even though the foreground app doesn’t appear to be making any noise.
Anyways. The way around it is instead of switching back to Spotify to resume your audio, instead pull down control centre while you’re still in the app you want to use. From control centre press play. This will often, but not always, work.
