I mean it doesn’t make much sense, does it? How is the watch more expensive than the iPhone SE? It doesn’t have a camera, it has a smaller display, it has a smaller battery, it can’t make phone calls, it has a worse chip, it has less storage, the speakers are worse as well and doesn’t have 5G.

So what is that makes it 2.5x times more expensive (429$ vs 999$) ?

Why would you compare a top tier flagship watch with the cheapest iPhone sold by Apple lol

For the same reason phones cost more than laptops, if people keep paying it, they’ll keep charging stupid prices for it.

Isn’t this obvious? One is the flagship Smartwatch of Apple the other is the entry level phone. Not the same marketsegments at all.

People who look at a smartwatch are not considering the SE instead. They already have a current phone and want a smartwatch. People looking for a phone are not considering a smartwatch instead of an SE. Totally bogus comparison.

Not the same category, one is a budget phone who has the same old design and the other one is the best of the best that you can get in a watch

And BTW 999$? Outside of US i can assume

Why does an iPhone 14 pro max (a flagship phone) cost the same as a mid-low end gaming laptop? The phone has worse specs, can’t run VR AT ALL, no dedicated graphics card.

This is the exact same argument ur currently making. They have different purposes and are for different people

It’s $799 so it’s less than double the price. It’s got a nicer display, far better water resistance, a new design, new sensors, and most importantly as others have said it’s about the market it’s appealing to to, not just the cost of raw materials

It’s because of the cameras, the multi-touch OLED display, the chip inside, the glass that is used which is extremely durable (gaming laptops have a plastic screen), the operating system, the fact that it makes phone calls without wifi, the sensors inside it, the stainless steel frame (gaming laptops are plastic). This is why it costs more even though it can’t play games as well.

My point is that they are completely different products. An iPhone is downright useless compared to a gaming laptop in terms of power, just as an Apple Watch is useless compared to an iPhone in terms of using it as a phone. It’s a flagship watch with high end materials, and it’s usecase is completely different. Yeah it doesn’t have a camera, but an iPhone SE doesn’t have a blood oxygen sensor, heart rate monitor, the ability to see how much your breathing, track workouts, etc.

Also, the chip of an iPhone is good but not nearly as good as the cpu and gpu of a gaming laptop, laptops don’t need multi touch displays, a lot of them are oled or mini led, a laptop doesn’t need the sensors, there are laptops with aluminum frames that can be really fucking expensive, and stainless steel isn’t as expensive as apple makes it out to be (trust me. I took a whole course on the manufacturing of metals and their costs and uses. A fridge can be entirely made of stainless steel for pretty cheap)
